    Spotlight Images?

Thankyou so much vaizki, that's just what I was after :) Unfortunately I don't have a radio trigger yet to set my flash off without it being attached to the hotshoe on my camera so am getting one next week. Can't wait to try this because I think they look really effective. Punkuate, I will...

    Spotlight Images?

I've just had a quick glance in the tutorials section and couldn't see anything so thought I'd ask here regarding spotlight photography. Has anyone had any experience shooting in the dark but using a small spotlight on a subject? I tried for the first time with an apple and whilst it did work...

    Portrait lenses.

I posted a similar thread recently and seemed to get a number of replies regarding both the 24-70mm and then also the 28-135mm lens for use in studio portraits. Not sure if this is the kind of thing you're looking for but I've done some research on both and they get very good write-ups for...

    Best Lens for Studio Portraits?

Ahh I understand. I don't think he has the original but it's only maybe one version up because he has had it a good number of years now. So, if I was to get a 24-70mm or even the 28-135mm and shot at f8 rather than f11 then I'd get clearer results? I want them as clear as possibly but from what...

    Best Lens for Studio Portraits?

Thanks for all of your opinions on this, it's a real help. So I think now I'm torn between going for the Canon 28-135mm or the more expensive Sigma 24-70mm. Leaning towards the 28-135mm due to it being that bit cheaper and also the photos that you have punkuate are lovely!

    Best Lens for Studio Portraits?

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm currently using the standard 18-55mm lens which my 550d came with but I think that's the reason my images aren't quite as clear as they could be. Don't get me wrong they aren't bad quality but not crystal clear. Oh great punkuate, thanks for your help! So...

    Best Lens for Studio Portraits?

I have a Canon 550d and was shooting a practise portrait session a few days ago in a studio near where I live. The shots came out lovely and I'm really pleased overall, however, they lack the clarity and detail that I've seen in the work of a photographer I know. Only when zooming in can you see...

    Landscape photography

Agreed, that's what I stick to usually, small apertures are what you want.

Do you prefer to take photos alone or in company?

I think personally on my own since you can really focus solely on what you're doing with no distractions, however, if I had more like-minded friends, (we're a mixed bunch really haha) then it may be a different story.

Poll: Which Format do you shoot in?

RAW + JPEG for me, eats my memory but I like to have both :)

Do you use Program or Manual mode?

AV or Manual for me. Most of the time I try to use manual :)

    Ipad canon 550D connection

I have done mine through my sister's ipad before and she was using a small appliance which either allows you to do it straight from the sd card or to use the usb cable. I just used the sd card and it worked perfectly

    Yongnuo YN-468

Thanks for that, I'll try rechargables in it and see if that helps, hopefully it gets a little faster because it is painfully slow at the moment...

    Yongnuo YN-468

Hi, I currently have an older jessops flash which I used yesterday on my Canon 550D and it worked perfectly but it was very slow to fire twice and it required a good few seconds to 're-charge' until it was ready again. Is this generic to all small hotshoe flashes or would the Yongnuo YN-468 be...
