    CF card cannot be accessed....

I know.....I always try. I've got a CF card reader for my ipad so I can copy it all onto that at the end of the day but just didn't get round to it this trip and lost a couple of days' worth. Ah well, this should sharpen the mind for next time...and I'm sure the wife won't mind another holiday!

    CF card cannot be accessed....

I ended up sending the card off to a company called TRC Data Recovery who diagnosed a card controller failure. Unfortunately it appears that this failure has also resulted in the data being erased as they've tried to read the chips externally to the card and there is no data present :( On the...

    CF card cannot be accessed....

Thanks for this....$225 to recover a 16GB card....cheaper than another flight to Australia I guess!

    CF card cannot be accessed....

Hi All, I'm after a bit of help with a failed CF card. I'd spent a day out shooting with my 7D mk2 and had almost filled a Sandisk CF card that I have used without problems for the last couple of years. I popped the camera back in the back on the way home and once I got back, took the camera...

Canon 5D MK I 'classic' - owners thread

I've just picked one of these up from MPB (arrived this afternoon) as a bit of an experiment after many years of crop sensors and I must say that I quite like the images it produces. I've only had a chance to nip down to the local lake around sunset and it was a bit dark for any decent shots...

Borneo 3 week holiday but what to take, advice needed

I've just got back from Borneo and I took a 7Dii, 70-300mmL and Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 (took the 100mm macro as well but never used it). Most of the time these were fine but I would have liked a little more reach for some of the birds and the occasional orang-utan we saw, so you may find 200mm a...

    Canon 7D mk2 owners thread.

Another new owner here as well. Mine arrived a couple of weeks ago, in time for a trip to Borneo. Pretty pleased with results despite the dire lighting in the rainforest! and of course, the ubiquitous orang-utan!

Lens advice - trip to Borneo

I'm off to Borneo at the beginning of March for a couple of weeks, hoping to get some wild orangutans amongst other things. I'm a little unsure of what kit to take though so if anyone has any advice/experience that they're willing to share, that would be great! I currently have a 7D which I'm...

    Canon EOS 7D Owners Thread

It hadn't crossed my mind that it would be displaying JPEGs but makes sense. Now I am wiser, thanks :)

    Canon EOS 7D Owners Thread

I too have just joined the 7D fraternity, moving up from a 40D. I'm pretty impressed so far although I think it'll take a little while to get to grips with it fully. I have noticed though the pictures look much better on the LCd than they do initially on the PC :) A couple of initial...

Lens advice - super telephoto for trekking

I went to Uganda last year looking for gorillas and I took with me a Sigma 150-500mm. I wouldn't recommend taking anything this big. 500mm was far too long for anything in the jungle and even 150 was too much on occasions when we saw gorillas. I couldn't back up far enough to get any decent...

    Canon 70-300mm L

My first L lens :) Picked this up a couple of weeks back and just getting my first chance to have a proper play and I must confess I'm prety impressed, even allowing for the shortcomings in my photographic abilities! IMG_9647 by Yaaan2, on Flickr This first photo is straight out of the...

    sigma 120-400 or 150-500 lens

I have the 150-500mm and it's fine taking shots without a tripod (as I don't have one yet!) and I've carried it through the jungle in Uganda looking for gorillas without problems. It's not lightweight and you'll know you're carrying it but it's not so heavy as to be unacceptable. Use the tripod...

    Aurora Borealis/Norway - Tips?

I'm up here in the arctic circle north of Norway at the moment for work and we've seen the lights most nights over the last week. Sunday night was the best we've had so far (was busy and missed them unfortunately) although it's been a bit cloudy since. They're supposed to pick up again nearer...
