Pic(s) you took today - an open thread

Come with me on my walk today, down the steps to the riverside, and then the short walk home.

A new building right by the side of the river. Heavy rain meant they had packed up early and gone for the weekend.

The old next to the new. They could have knocked down the derelict school and built the new school on the same site ??

Urban filth pours into the River Great Ouse

Back round to where I started, back up the steps and the short walk along the road to home.

you should try hand feeding them... (when they get to know you then they will) THEN they look big lol

Not sure I fancy that! I believe they can break your arm with their wings. These two came quite close so I, cowardly, decided to return to the car.

From a long walk in the Wyre Forest, The sun was so warm I was amazed and walked a good distance with 4 dogs 3 Working Cockers and a Springer one of them being my daughters dog originally breed by us) I clocked 8 miles with the GPS and found by accident the new Beaver enclosure under construction. An experiment to see how they do. These shots were taken with my cheap Kodak superzoom which works well in good light but the colours seem a little off to me. This camera just fits in my pocket which is good as the tight pocket also keeps the lens cap on which is a very poor fit.

I really have no clue what breed of bird this is however it's quite small and nimble. The first shot is about 35 yards away, so quite a crop from a 300mm focal length

IMG_5275.jpg

So this little bird that I captured from above came to the feeder about 11 yards away in the garden

IMG_5276.jpg

Then this hungry specimen moved around the feeder and at times opened it's wings maybe for balance?

IMG_5315.jpg

And I caught another shot with wings open

IMG_5335.jpg

Then some pigeons a little while after were on top of the feeder

IMG_5365.jpg

And I was lucky enough to catch this one in flight - not quite as sharp as I would like however I am using equipment that doesn't really lend itself well to this style of photography....

Thanks for taking the time to view.

The Starlings turn up on mass on my feeders and Bird table , they generally squabble cause a right racket, trash the place empty everything and then clear off !

This was taken an hour or so ago in super dull almost completely dark light . . . I am amazed at the image brightness and lack of horrific noise as it was not under any lamppost or other light source. So SOOC Tamron 85mm f/1.8 @ 1.8 iso 6400 1/20s hand held with Auto-Focus and Vibration-Control on, Circular-Polariser in non polarising position. WOW!

SOOC what camera?
I have just checked my EXIF and under Recipe I had max in camera noise reduction on. So I have lost some sharpness but still a great performance. I noticed the better I tried to expose the scene the better the outcome. I shot this at 1/125s and it was rubbish but at 1/20 it came out really good as posted. So while my camera can't work miracles it will help as much as it can.
