WCMUT....what cheered me up today

Happened to come across a football match that was being streamed on YouTube and S4C....

I'd forgotten it was the title decider for the Adran Genero Premier ie the Women's Welsh Premier League. Cardiff City have had their name on the trophy ad infinitum; not any more. As a North Walian and a Wrexham supporter I am so happy to see them knocked off their perch. 4-1 in the end. But whereas 10.5k fill the ground to watch the Men's game, they only half-filled the main stand (~3000) for this match. If the standard of this match was anything to go by I think the women's game has come on in leaps and bounds. Katie Barker does know how to score penalties.

My Tesco delivery driver, (Hayden) turned up on time, with evrything as ordered. The fact that she was young and gorgeous had nothing to do with me giving her a good review!

We're flying to Thailand from Manchester 11th April. Flying with Qatar Airways. Flights and airport parking were booked in January and got an great price on the parking...

The Iran conflict started but it never entered my mind to cancel the trip. Since Qatar has restarted flights they've been making adjustments to their flight schedules, some I found out about last week, and some over the weekend.... The result was our outbound flight from Manchester is now departing 45 minutes before my booked entry time for the airport parking...

Made a phone call this morning to the Customer Service desk about my booking and they've adjusted my entry time at no extra cost. (y) (y) (y)

I'd been thinking they'd tell me to cancel the booking (fully refundable) and make a new booking but at a higher cost....... I did a fresh quote and it was 60% more than what I paid!!!

After a truly cr@p golf week last week, I managed 21 points over 9 holes this morning.

Was yesterday but what cheered me up was the first proper ride out on our bikes then lunch and a cuppa sat outside in the sun
Lots of people out on their bikes too which is nice to see
And it turns out that my other half is absolutely fine on her bike with her bad knee we was worried about that

Blood test time but I was in and out in 5 minutes, after going in 5 minutes early. Picked up a couple of books for holiday too.

WCMU(yesterday). Out walking on Dartmoor after a bit of an injured foot/rain/rain/flu/more rain absence. All my walks are 8 miles...... till they're not. This was was 11. Best bit was sitting on a rock having my lunch, all alone, talking to the sheep and listening to all the birds (yes, I know........)

That sort of company can be the very best, Jan!

A full morning of warm, sunshine, long enough for me to pressure wash my (concrete) driveway - what is all that black stuff and where does it come from? We never used to have it but now, it comes back every year. Salt? Rust? Brake dust? Tyre dust? Aeroplane fuel residues? It covers the whole area, not just in spots (like bird poo). It reminds me of when I used to live in the industrial north of England, when the mill chimneys and trains were belching coal smoke? "Diesel bug" from all the aircraft that fly over us (often dumping fuel - US military - dog fighting practise etc?)
:rolleyes::(

After an MRI scan a couple of weeks back, I have been given a last "all clear" and been signed off.

Fantastic news. I had my results the other day. Bloods were all normal, and my CT scan showed no recurrence of the cancer. Just have to wait for an MRI on my liver next month.

Just the follow up to the diabetic blood tests a week or 2 back now...

I sold a lens on eBay 3 weeks ago, title and description were correct. Listed as no returns accepted.
After 3 weeks I have had a message saying the buyer wanted to return the lens as “it didn’t fit”
Suspect the buyer wanted for a holiday/job or just changed his mind about purchase.
Fully expected ebay to side with the buyer but declined return and stated description was correct and buyer had possibly just changed their mind about purchase after having it for 3 weeks.
To my surprise I had a message a few mins later saying return was closed, have checked and once closed case cannot be reopened
BUT:
Suspect if the buyer had claimed lens was faulty the outcome would have been different

Eagerly anticipated!

WCMUT was spotting a fox with a squirrel in his mouth in front of opposites' garage. At 09:00 or so. Not seen one quite so brazen in a while, so guessing that he's feeding some youngsters. Again, guessing it's a He rather than a She since he was looking reasonably well fed and glossy. A bit surprised too, since the new people opposite have a couple of dogs and the big briar patch that hosts the foxes' den butts up against their fences.
Just hoping that the youngsters come out to play when we're looking!

Forgot about this! FTR, all the bloods are well within specs and expectations - I've even lost a couple of kilos.

Everything crossed for you, Marc.

Good luck Marc, it will make a huge difference for you. (y)

I don't mind popping wheelies up steps, but it bloody well hurts going down. :crying:

I had a funny experience at our Tenerife hotel on Saturday. We had a table by one of the windows overlooking the sea .A women and (it turned out) her niece who had arrived that day sat at the next table along...so behind us... and she was wanted to take a photo, with her mobile, of the sea, and rocks in the foreground, to show back home they'd arrived. She must have got a reflection in the shot so she tried to open the window., It was a huge sliding window and wouldn't open so I went to her and asked if she was getting a reflection and she said she was but the window wouldn't open. It did take a bit of elbow grease but I opened it. She took her photo, very pleased and said something else. She spoke quite quickly. I said sorry, I didn't catch that. She spoke more slowly but it wasn't easy understanding her. It turned out that she was saying.."You probably can't understand me because I'm a Geordie" I can usually understand them and love the accent...and the people. I'd met another Geordie..we spoke about the possible demise of Spurs into the Championship League. He was from Sunderland. A bit of a celebrity,he talked to so many guests and was always laughing. Another Geordie joined him. I told him about the lady and he said he knew who I meant and that she was from Wallsend, Newcastle and he understood her because he'd worked there a lot. Anyone know it..?

Most of the guests came from up there,Lancashire, Birmingham and South Wales. It was like being back home for me...near Liverpool.. whilst getting meals( self-service buffet style.). .ie like being at a being at a bus stop. Everyone chatted with eachother....strangers. All so friendly. It's not lkike that here in Gloucester and I've really missed that. Our next door neighbour is from Birmingham and she's so friendly.

We're still in touch with a couple from Swansea we met in February. Infact, the Sunderland man said he and his wife might change their December booking to January. I hope so because we're going back in January.

Wallsend is so named because it is situated close to, if not at, the end of Hadrians Wall.

Before it was destroyed by a combination of Union Strikes and inept Nationalised management in the 1970's, it was the site of Swan Hunters shipyard. One of the biggest shipbuilding yards in the Country. Some of the ships built there were 250,000 ton deadweight tankers, the largest ever constructed in the UK.

In the years before that, in addition to the merchant ships, a number of naval ships were built there.

In the 1960's I attended South Shields Marine College a number of times and I loved my time there, the Geordies are great people.

Thanks..that was a really interesting read.

"R"! Burned (mainly) in 500cc singles, with a few twins with similar sized pots thrown in for good measure. Add the sound that those and other motors were making and I'm a happy chappy!

Barring rain in the morning, we'll be going back for the VSCC tomorrow.

WCMUT was finally getting out for a proper walk after what feels like weeks of rubbish weather and endless excuses. Nothing dramatic, just one of those cold but bright afternoons where everything looks sharper somehow. Took the camera with me thinking I’d probably not even use it, then ended up stopping every five minutes because the light kept catching things nicely. Also discovered a tiny café I’d somehow walked past dozens of times without noticing before, so that felt like a decent bonus. Funny how sometimes it’s the completely ordinary days that improve your mood the most. No big events, no expensive purchases, just a bit of fresh air and a break from staring at screens for once.

More "R" - mainly from the same cars as yesterday.

Also, seeing another good turnout from the VSCC, who always put on a good show with a selection of their more nimble machinery. Wiscombe really doesn't suit the bigger Bentleys etc., favouring the Austin 7s and the like.

Someone from Sunderland understanding Geordie! Mackams have a completely different twang to the Geordies. The accents are as different as chalk and cheese, but I suppose to a non north-easterner they all sound the same.

Shame the other lot didn't get it sold for you but good that the new ones seem to be putting some work in for you. Hope the bungalow you found is still available when you do get the house sold.

I worked ina Kia dealer and we had a Geordie and a Mackam among the staff, some Mondays mornings were entertaining during the football season, not that anyone ever stirred the pot a little.
