50mm 1.2 help

Well I think the focus point should have been changed thats all. It's hard to appreciate with such a large aperature that even slightly out of focus will be noticeable. If this was something like f/5.6 the face would have been in focus as well.

If you want to quickly test the lens you could set up a still life and pop your camera on a tripod and take a photo at each fstop with the camera focused at the same spot.

Bang on with that one

There's nothing wrong with the lens from what we've seen to date, it's just a case of nailing the focus with the wafer thin DOF at the wider end.

unfortunatly this wasn't the 1.2 just practicing with different lens but i thought id try doing more with them first then move on to the 1.2!!! LOL
