A short list of photo editors, raw converters and other photo editing tools

For Mac users, there's a good image editor called Pixelmator.

http://www.pixelmator.com/mac/#

At $30 it seems good value for a layer-based editor that also includes much better vector graphics than Photoshop. It doesn't have everything Photoshop has of course, but it has what most photographers need for everyday use, and from what I've seen of it in use, it's very good looking.

There's seems to be no mention of DarkTable (raw and much more -- like LightRoom), GwenView (viewer and organiser), or ImageMagick (great for batch processing, among other things).

All excellent free tools I use all the time on Linux. I dare say there are versions for other operating systems as well. Not forgetting the most excellent ExifTool.

Just a heads-up that Digital Light and Color's program "Picture Window Pro" has now gone to Freeware.
It's available from their website in 32 and 64 bit versions along with a manual on how to use it.
I've used it for over 5 years and can recommend it for those who need a simple but effective Jpeg editor/ presenter.

I know it's included with Photoshop, but I think Adobe Camera Raw should be listed, as it's almost an application in itself, and comes with DNG Converter. It works as a plug-in for Bridge, CS3 and Elements.
You can download the latest version from here:
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

To get the best reproduction, you can also install camera profiles (only Canon & Nikon so far), and the DNG Profile Editor from here:
http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles
I have long been interested in the topic of using this application. Could you please advise the tutorial on the use?

Very useful… but outdated!

Actually, WidsMob Viewer supports RAW viewing too. You can browse all stored pictures by opening one only. Its free version provides all features without limitations.

I often use web-services for this needs. It helps to save a lot of time

Upd: got a few questions, you can read about it here
