Advice required on Macro Lens

Given your comments, what about an extension tube behind one of your existing lenses or a screw in macro filter? That'll get you a low-cost taster for macro. Either IMHO are a perfectly good place to start.

Have a look at a Raynox DCR250... it's pretty cheap yet good quality and a great way to get into Macro. It's cheaper than electronic tubes but a bit more than the real cheap macro filters. Plus, as it clips onto the filter threads (52-67mm) converting from macro to telephoto is a doddle and doesn't involve changing lenses. Have a look at this and this thread for some of my recent shots with the DCR250 on a normal 55-250 telephoto.
