AF in live view

after reading the thread below then doing a search (I'm sure it has been covered before but couldn't find it)

I was playing with live view on my 450d last night and noticed the half press of the shutter button didn't work the auto focus? is this a setting I've changed or does it just not work in the same way?

with canon you use the af/ae lock button to auto focus in live view

You may have to change a custom setting in the menu to enable AF in Liveview. I know this is the case with the 40D, not sure about the 450D.
