Little F&C tradition to share some favourites from the previous year. Last year I suggested sets, but this year I suggest just pick one or a few of your favourites... :)

ETA: forgot to say, Happy New Year, filmies!

This was my favourite. I wanted to try and get DSLR quality out of film, and the RB67 has given me that. It's going to take me a lot of practise to do this consistently, but I'm able to print to A2 from the 6x7 negatives and pick out really nice detail.

It's difficult to separate out enjoyment of the finished image, from my own memories of taking the photographs. In some cases these are favourites because they were the product of some kind of adversity (eg weather, a long walk in, or troublesome equipment), but of course this means nothing to anyone else. So these are my personal favourites for various reasons …

1...North Shields Fish Quay taken with Pan F in a £1 box camera. I like this precisely because of it's many imperfections and because of the basic equipment used. I also have a darkroom print, which was made after the neg had been flattened for some time, and is more in focus - but I prefer this scan of a very curly negative.

2. Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe, taken with Velvia 100 in a Fujifilm GA645Zi - mainly I like it as a memory of getting a photo on a truly awful day with a gale force wind and driving rain.

3. Rannoch Moor on the most sunny day, and last day, of a rainy week in October. 4x5 Portra 400 in an Intrepid camera, developed in the Fuji Hunt C41 kit. Perhaps not the most dramatic view I took during the week but I find it very relaxing to view. I'm planning to try some colour darkroom printing soon with this image as my first test.

I guess this is one from 2018.

Nikon F5 Sigma 24mm Velvia 50

These are my three from 2018.

The first is a photo of my potatoes in the garden, which was the start of my home grown project.

A couple of colour ones and a B&W from me. The colour is home developed on the last of my Poundland Agfa Vista Plus 200. The B&W taken on F&C meetup last summer at Black Country Living Museum @Fraser Euan White just out of shot with the great, great, grandchild of the 1938 Rolleicord I was using.

Mine's also from the Scottish trip and appeared in that thread. It lacks just about everything that I normally aim at (like sharpness :D) but given that the weather on this day was rather poor, and I associate that with steamed up windows (or at least blurred vision due to the rain spots on the glass) the treatment seems to suit the mood. The forlorn collection of unused large format cameras - most without even lenses on - just seemed to sum things up.

"Sharpness is a bougeois concept". In this case, it would have detracted (in my opinion :)).

Three of my favourites from this year, albeit a bit of an eclectic selection.

The first being one of those shots where subject matter and timing came together at just the right moment to make it work.

This one due to the lighting and subject matter combining as planned.

And lastly this one; because it's nice to finally photograph some unicorns for a change, rather than just chasing them. ;) Happy New Year everyone. :)

Loving No3 of this set!

I think it's a bit inspired too. However, in general, there are some really inspiring images on this thread. Nige's "At the rear of Mam Tor" is my favourite I think. Gorgeous, simple and beautifully presented.

I don't shoot much film but I like this shot from a roll of Kodak T-Max 400 that I got developed last year:

Shot using my Canon EOS 3 and I think the Canon 50 f/1.8 STM (if not it was the Canon 35 f/2 IS USM).

A bit late to the party but here are some of my favourites from last year. A poor bunch all told, too many cock-ups caused by bad technique in both shooting and developing. Must try harder this year.

Mamiya C330f, 80mm lens, Ilford Delta 100.

Wista Field 45, Fujinon 135mm f5.6, OOD Fuji 160NS. A rare one where I got the exposure just right.

Baby Grey Rolleiflex on Rerapan 127 film. If 127 film was cheaper or more available the Baby Rollei would be my go to camera, its bloody superb.
