Undecided any holiday booked for 2024 ?

John We were there in March 1972

did you have little boys runnng onto the runway to the plane with trays or toy camels? one of the little sods got hold of my wife and tried to shove a toy camel into my hand. the immigration place to show our passports to get stamped was just a tent with tressle tables for the immigration officers to sit at. We had a small bungalow in the hotel grounds to ourselves but in March the underfloor heating was on even thought the temperature was like a hot summer day here. In this bungalow type of place the beds were on opposite sides of the room and single bed ones at that. To get from one to the other we had to put shoes on. Oh the laughs we had were at least 3 or 4 times a day at what the locals were doing.ent for a trip to he lcal large town and into a Souk. Did It stink? phew with sewage? running down the gutters at tghe edge of the road. Right in the middle was a large square and loads of women scrabbling over sheets/blankets/clothes or what ever. Back at the hotel one night there was a storm. in the morning the arabs on the open beach had camped on one raised sand dune and the camels tethered on another, Inbetween a large deep river occured and the Arabs were jumping up and down because they could not get to their camels. all of this and more really made our hooneymoon memorable

We’re off to the Bahamas in January for our 20th wedding anniversary, we also have Madeira booked for July & Nashville for end Sept/October.

We’ll figure out the rest of our holibobs as and when. :ROFLMAO:

thank you all for posting on my thread, it is interesting seeing what others have planned. Has anyone gone back to the same place abroad I wonder, and if so what was the attraction.
I have few places that have inspired me to visit, and I have been to some of those places multiple times. I travel mainly to get away and take pictures, and I want to go and know a place, to see as much as I can, and hopefully improve on the images I may have got before.

I recently came back from Manarola, one of the Cinque Terre towns in Italy, and that was my 4th visit there, and 5th to the Cinque Terre, as I stayed in Corniglia on the first trip. This time was a bit of a washout, with the town closed down twice during the week, because of the weather, which I didn't know was a thing. o_O I didn't see half of what I wanted, but am happy with what I did get, and the stormy conditions giving something different to previous visits. I have been multiple times to Venice, Rome and Naples. Naples for mainly what is around it, rather than for the city itself, which I don't find that attractive. Visiting places at different times of the year can make a place seem very different.

Where I travel to is also affected by where the local airports fly to that I feel I would like to visit. Liverpool has very limited destinations. Manchester a lot more, but it is a pita to get to and from Manchester to Liverpool, especially for very early flights. I doubt I would ever fly to London, to then fly somewhere else long haul as Nikon f1.8 is planning to do.

I am now finding that I am not up to my previous strategy of waking around all day, and parts of early morning and night, as my age and unfitness kicks in. :( The same camera gear feels heavier than it used to. ;)

Having just returned from a trip, nothing is in my mind for 2024 yet. There is nothing that is a place I 'must' visit atm. :( Hopefully something tempts me before Easter next year. :)

I turn 50 in 2024 and as I’ve wanted to go to Japan for a good percentage of my 49 years, I’ve booked a cruise around Japan. Yes it’s the lazy way of doing it, and while we often travel independently, I don’t want the hassle especially with a fussy 14 year old daughter in tow!

We’ve done a few cruises before so I’m really looking forward to it. Yes it’s enormously expensive for 3 of us but it’s a good way to celebrate a big birthday and to give my daughter the opportunity to see somewhere that she may not get the chance to visit again.

We are off to Morocco in July which should hopefully give some nice colourful pictures round the markets.

Be careful if you visit Marrakech - there are gangs that work the streets, offering to show tourists interesting things, only to take them to houses and demand money before they let them go.

Fascinating country, enjoy.

For us Norway is at the top of the list followed by my preference of China suprisingly enough. Forgetting the politics of any country and just getting on communicating with the inhabitants is a pleasure.

Sitting through a musical/dance show in South Korea? well if this is your type of thing then you would love it !!!!!!!!.

We’re heading back to Seoul at Easter, we loved it last year but found we’d planned too much we’ve decided to concentrate on areas this year rather than rushing round the tourist hotspot’s. 9 weeks on Friday not that I’m counting…..

Booked a few more trips for this year....

June - will be to the Tyrol in Austria for the International NSU Treffen. Fly to Munich and get a hire car just to enjoy the scenery. Drop the car back at the airport a day early so that I can get absolutely bladdered on the wonderful Munich beers.

November - Venice - love going there and now got the taste of going to Florian's Cafe on St Mark's as well. Sod the expense, it's Venice. Will be on a mission to re-visit the Armenian Monastery and Pellestrina. Lots of Aperol/Campari Spritzes and Negronis will no doubt be consumed.

Trying to book flights to with Ryanair since Friday and it keeps failing at the payment stage. There is an issue but not sure why they are not putting up a message to state their is an issue on their site and each time you try and rebook the price keeps going up...

You can say that again! :$ ;)

That may be your browser trying to save you from Ryanair. Seriously though, have you tried another browser? For some reason Easyjet does not work properly with Firefox for me.

Tried everything thing. Different machines, their app, different browsers including incognito mode. They currently have an issues on their site.

Next cheapest is Lufthansa so will just book with them, there is a stop over hence the longer journey but cannot wait for Ryanair to fix theirs issue.

So far got a week in the New Forest and a week in the South Downs planned with the family, and hoping to fit in a city break or two in without the kids.

Since we started Motorhoming, we tend to stay in Scotland and the occasional trip to the Lakes.
In fact our passports have ran out - need to renew them.
I'm not a huge fan of heat and foreign holidays.
I have pale blue skin - it takes me a week to turn white!!

We have a lodge booked for the first week in April over in the Assynt region.
Our son gets married at Loch Lomond in July so we are staying there for a week or so.
I'm sure we'll have quite a few trips in the van in between babysitting/dog sitting duties.

Any tips for Nassau & Grand Bahama - on a cruise in April and stop at both for a day each, so not loads of time.

Simon
my wife and I did the Bahamas (not the grand bahames) cruise a couple of years ago, so can't help you with that. A completely different experience from the other countries we have visited.

We stayed in Nassau for 10 days. Depends on what you want to do there. You can head for the beach, personally I wouldn't go to the most local beach to the port (junkanoo), it's very busy! We were on Paradise Island and Cabbage Beach there is beautiful, and not too busy either. You can get the water taxi from by the port to Paradise Island or a taxi to go over the bridge is around 40 USD. The Atlantis is on Paradise Island, I believe you can pay a day fee for access to the Atlantis facilities and of course the Water Park is there as well.

The town itself is nice, but not that big. The straw market which is a popular landmark is full of the usual tat, personally I was pretty disappointed with it. Local attractions include the Queens Staircase which is quite a sight and that leads up to the fort by the water tower.

To be fair, we didn't do a great deal, other than lay on the beach, popped to the Atlantis casino and eat! :)

We've just booked to go to Seville, Cordoba & Jerez in September.... hopefully some late summer sun & warmth!

St Lucia in a week. Won’t be doing a lot but staying in Rodney Bay and I’ll take my XPro3 and 16-80. May also take 23mm F1.4 although Ill see how the hand luggage pans out.

oh going on a cruise can be quite exciting with a force 9 gale blowing like this on our north sea voyage

they would not even allow any surfing in the swimming pool. they even emptied it in the end. ( 0.18 into video)

not the first voyage we have had either. few years earlier when a ship rolled and a pianio fell off a stage and racks of drinke smashed on the corridor floor. Strangly enough it was a rock and roll music nigfht. the piano in this video was the one that fell
