Any Ideas What This Is?

Hi folks. Another "I work in a charity shop listing stuff for eBay, and I found this and don't know what it is" post. It's not photographic, but as there are many many years of experience here, I thought someone might know what it is. Even the Google image search came up blank. My guess is that it's a bit off a submarine.

The right handed "tube" extending out of the round thing (in the image below) is a monocular but all I can see through it is a blur. It's made of metal. 3rd photo is the back of it (I think!)

Absolutely no idea but I'm betting 10p it's something medical.

I've done some Googling, but no luck on what it is.

I believe it was made before 1991 though and originates from East Germany. That Carl Zeiss Jena logo was used in East Germany until reunification. A new logo was used after that.

I'd try Zeiss themselves. Looks like a folding monocular. Maybe it's some kind of distance measuring thingy or part of something off a boat sextant type bit of thing?
