I've been asked to take some pics at a kids party this weekend and I've got a gaping hole in my lens line up with nothing below 50mm (have 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8 and 70-200vr)

I've seen that Jessops are doing the Sigma 24-70mm DG Macro for £350 on Nikon mount, but am put off a little by the mixed opinions...

My other option is a 35mm F2, not sure what to do - but I need to make my mind up pretty quick!...

if you're buying from jessops they have a 30 day money back policy so you can try it and take it back if you're not happy , I had the older non macro and it was great

ive got the 35 and love it but not sure it would give you the flexibility you may need indoors for a party

Not too sure if it helps but i run one as my walkabout on a D300 and love it.

I love mine on my D700. It's my most used lens with plenty of width for most "normal" uses (and I've got the 12-24 for more "abnormal" width) as well as a wide enough aperture to cope with indoor shooting, especially when combined with the low light capabilities of the FX sensor.
