So I'm wanting to get some photos of my little 8 week old boy tomorrow. I've got the 18-55 / f3.5-5.6 and the 70-300/4.5-5.6 lenses. I was after the best results from my d3300...
Which lens would you guys usually shoot with given the choice if them 2.

I'm asking the questions assuming appeture mode is the best..
What settings are best? Do I lock ISO or auto ISO (if locked what is a good range) ? Do I use flash? Do I try to create another style of light with what I can make do with? And what shutter speed do you aim for by shooting with hand. Im wanting sharp and crisp images.

Just after people's personal favorites please.

Many thanks.

Babies are relatively small and one does not need
to back up really to capture the whole little body.

I would go for the 70~300 mm preferring the lower
part of the zoom.

When you talk about ISO any is good up to 6400 for FB or even small prints with a little noise reduction, it depends on what you like. If you want to print large prints then try to stick to the lower ISO 100-800. That's just a general guide on my preference. You indicated aperture mode is best, just be aware that your shutter speed is sufficient to avoid camera shake and movement. I would say at least 1/125 and faster, it depends on how well you can hold the camera, focal length and if the lens has some sort of image stabilisation.
