Despite the fact that they are pretty common, here at least,
they are still pretty birds

Blimey it must be hungry, it's eating its parent :D

I've not seen any youngsters yet, but I bet it won't be long.
 
No chance to get the camera out but yesterday our “resident” male Sparrowhawk took a sparrow from one of the shrubs in our garden.
Lots of noise then he landed on the ground with the bird in his claw before flying off.

It was late afternoon so he must be feeding young on the nest.

It was certainly a site to behold.

Can anyone ID this youngster looks like a juvenile gold or green Finch but I could be wrong. Sorry for the rubbish photos taken on my phone heavily zoomed in didn't get chance to get the Nikon out.

One G.S.Woodpecker, it was digging in my parents garden just after the rain (Thanks to @Vintage Racer for ID)

The young ones are still in the nest box, buy getting a good feed.
My blue tits are long gone
Do you think there's enough to start the nest with ?
However I have a couple of starlings ( I saw them together) collecting nesting material. in the form of the dried fallen bamboo sheaths that cover the growing stems.
