Brand "Bashing"

:suspect: Didn't know that Epson/HP/Lexmark made camera's.....
Bet that there will now be a thread bantering on Epson/HP/Lexmark printer's now....

well, none of the above need a battery......:shake:..:lol::lol:

Thanks to those who "get it" like trencheel303 and mid gen.

Fabs: The issue i have is its like looking through a critique thread trying to learn something and there are 3 pages of "nice shot" comments, its just dull and adds NOTHING to the site/thread/my knowledge, and its BORING.

Nick.

Or maybe just sychophants who like to jump into threads to loudly decry the next contentious subject just in order to bolster their own post count...maybe?

Get a sense of propertion maybe - better yet, get a sense of humour...

This is funny, you know...
None of us takes any of it seriously...

I consider most of it to be harmless banter & people having a giggle ribbing their mates and others with a shared interest, but if it gets serious try to remember that opinions are like ********s, everyone's got one.

I can imagine it could get irritating though if you're looking for serious critique and someone comes back with the sole contribution of "Would have been better if you shot <insert brand name that you don't use here>" without using any smilies, so you couldn't tell if it was serious or not.

Personally I couldn't give a stuff what kit I use, never mind someone else, and I think most other people are the same in that they couldn't care less what anyone else uses.

Bashing the Brand is a pretty natural reaction, to be fair. He is annoying, is Russell!

He was just pointing out that the same 'joke' gets pretty tired the hundredth time you find yourself scrolling through the garbage in an otherwise interesting thread.

Nice bait :P

That's just it - I never get tired of this - "Canon is Rubbish" is the gift that keeps on giving...

Arkady

I always fancied a Seagull myself.

As for your comment on post count boosting, that seems a bit harsh considering what you have posted up so far in this thread trying to discuss pointless posts...... ;)

Nick.

Which pointless posts? Thought we were having a bit of banter...

Well they arent on topic for the thread so they are either pointless/post boosting or banter, you accuse me of boosting then claim yours are banter, seems like double stds to me.

Nick.

Not you Nick...all the others who come running out of the woodwork shouting "ohh me too, me too: I really hate that too..."

Just occasionally sounds a bit over-pious, when all we're talking about is some light-hearted banter...

Daddy's got a Porche! Snort!

oops, sorry wrong forum again ;)

The best camera is obviously going to be your next one. :p

Very true, my current 'best' camera is a slightly scabby Nikon F3 (battered body, perished seals and full of gungy bits), soon to be joined by another (but this time, minty-fresh) Nikon F3...

I'd forgotten just how delightful these old cameras were - sits 'just right' in the hand...solid, unobtrusive, confidence-inspiring...

The best camera is the one in your hands that gets the shot, whether perfect or otherwise surely.....?

Discuss.

Nick.

PS: Arkady thanks for the clarification, friends?

It's just banter, I've never seen a serious argument about bodies.
We even do it on meets, I've joked with fabs plenty of times about using a Sony phone as he uses Sony kit.
feek is a Nikon user and we do the same with each other as well.
It's harmless fun and if anything got serious the mods would soon get involved.
It's nothing like people who waste their time getting into serious yet petty debates over MS vs Apple.

The Mac vs PC argument has been going for years, even though Apple Mac is now technically on the same platform as PC's (x86)

Absolutely - never thought otherwise - same goes for everyone else here - this is where I come to hang out and play...fighting I save for the workplace...lol

Speaking of Olympus users I haven't seen Andy Elliot for a while... has he given up on TP ...?

I'm an Olympus Owner.

Anyone remember Dixons' Cosina brand (badged as Miranda) ???

Now they were good :D

I'm also a Nikon, Yashica, Zeiss, the much Maligned PENTAX, and various other brands owner and I love them all. Never owned a Canon that I can remember but my mum has always had one.

Nick.

I agree, Pentax made some great stuff. I still have a hankering for a 645 (or a digital version if I win the lottery!)

I started with Fuji, then moved to Oly and went Canon when AF came along. If I was starting now I'd be shooting Nikon but I've sunk too much cash in lenses to change now.

Not sure I get your point. I have no experience of current Pentax as they make nothing beyond consumer bodies. I do know that Pentax made some great film stuff as I have been lucky enough to use it...

If you think it's bad on here you should see the dpreview forums. And a lot of it's not just friendly banter on there either but really annoying trolling.

Everybody should spend at least a month on DPReview before coming here. It will make them better people, and appreciate what we have here, even with the harmless banter.
