How do people get access to the race tracks etc, if i was going purely to get some shots of the cars etc, not a race day maybe just a track day of whatever do people still have to buy tickets?

just wondering how people do it..

I recently did a track day at Anglesey and as far as I could tell anyone not participating could just turn up and watch / take photos.

May be worth checking out who's running the track day first just in case e.g. bookatrack.com / http://www.clubmsv.co.uk/ to name just two of many.

Trackdays are generally quite good for access provided you don't take the micky. I sometimes wear a fluorescent jacket and with my White L lenses may get mistaken for the official tog as sometimes the marshalls invite you closer. Always worth a chat to ask where the best spots are, as they know where the incidents happen :D
 
Brands is easy to just get in to on track days.

Emailing MSV isnt the best as they will say you shouldnt take pics as they have an official company who are 'really good'...

Really good at making cars look parked.
 
Track Days and Circuit Test Days are generally free access to spectator areas.

Race days are pay for events, ranging from £ 10 per day upwards.

You won't be permitted trackside unless you are accredited media and pits is out of bounds except on trackdays.

Extremely*****photography who do most of the track day photos there have been known to request any photographer looking like they know more than they do (anyone who can use anything bar P mode I expect) to stop taking pics.

I know of a couple of people who got told they were not allowed to take pics because of them.

this goes back to the thread the other day about official photographers and the lack of signage saying otherwise and other people with compacts being allowed etc etc.

if its just the photographer saying that then id tell them to do one and/or go get someone official to tell me that. i would of liked to seen them enforce that at the BSB the other week, there were 1000s of people most with SLRs.

BSB isnt a track day though.

Theres alot of money in track day photography even if you are utterly cack like them, which is why they get quite stressy at times.

Brands a friend was told to put his camera away as it was upsetting the 'official track day company' who brands use.
 
A proper track day photographer would have access to the areas of the circuit that the public can't get to, so they should be able to get the best shots.

Any member of the public should be able attend, with or without camera. If the official photographer gets snitty, then its his problem, not yours! If you start selling your photos then that is another thing.
