Mmm...looks as though there maybe a few peeps looking for some kit.

Got some bits & pieces left over from my 'Ca**on back to Sony' detour :cuckoo:

Not enough posts to qualify for a listing in the classified section, so if anyone is interested, PM for info. Might save me a trip to fleabay.

Details & pics here

Wow, it's like an Aladdins cave at your place....

Looking into getting a second lens to go with my A300 when I get it and I've been looking at the Sony 55-200mm and the Sony 75-300, I know that they are not the SSM lenses but due to cash restrictions I can't stretch that far!
I was just wondering what people thought of these lenses.

I had the 75-300 lens as part if the twin lens kit when I got my A100 and it served me very well frorn the first year and I thing it is a great lens for the money. I have never come across the 55-200 so can't really comment on it so I'll wait for someone else to offer there opinion.

hi,

A quick question....

Ha any one used close up lens...

I find it listed on fleabay ujnder a tenner

and they claim that ..

These close up lenses enable you to get much closer than the minimum focus of a standard camera lens - mere inches from the subject!

Any comments???

cheers

I first bought a set of these off ebay when I first got my camera and have to say I couldn't really get on with them so I went out and bought a Sigma 105mm Macro. I think you get what you pay for with these things IMHO.

Hi All,

Anyone into Macro?

Anyone recommend a good Ring Flash for the A700 [72/82mm] - apart from the £500 Sony affair

i do the occasional macro work, and have looked into ring/macro flash units...and i think they will only work with lens up to either 55mm or 58mm diameter...

Mmmm...wonder why that is.

Now you mention it, I don't think I've seen anything larger advertised

Must investigate further.

Cheers Stan.

http://www.metzflash.co.uk/pages/ringflash.htm looks a very useful unit - no cables! I comes with 55, 55 and 57mm adapter rings but 62, 67 and 72 mm are available.

The reason many macro lenses have 52/55mm filter threads is simply that they have a maximum aperture of f2.8 and are around 100mm focal length - and that dictates the size of the front glass and hence the filter ring size. I imagine that's the macro lens size the ring flash makers are catering for. Longer (180-200mm) macro lenses have correspondingly larger front elements and filter rings - usually 72mm and at least the Metz has rings for those.

Hello Everybody, I'm new to this forum do would like to thank you in advance for your input & opinions.

I'm a casual photographer - no specific theme other than the family & the desire to take a 'good picture' - whether Scenery / landscape, buildings/ sport etc. I like mood, lighting, layout.

I have an Alpha 100 & a few lenses

- Sony Kit Lens 18-70
-Sigma lens 70 – 300mm ( 1:4 – 5.6)
-Tamron 500mm (1:8) mirror lens
-Minolta 24 mm F 2.8 AF lens
-Minolta 35 – 70 mm F4 AF lens
-Minolta 80-200 F4-F5.6

With the current Sony offer, I could get an Alpha300 body for £245. Or a 350 body for £340 I could sell my Sony Kit lens for ? £220 ? - so there is only a small upgrade cost. I am trying to avoid spending on upgrades that don't deliver benefit vs expenditure. But this may be a good time to sell an Alpha 100 and he offer only runs to end January.

What benefits would I get and which is the better to upgrade to ?

Also - any thoughts on which of these are the best lenses to keep / to sell on ?

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

[Hi, Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'd hope for £220 for the Sony A100 with the kit lens - i.e. as I purchased it. I'd then replace with the A300 or a350 body & some/all of my other lenses

QUOTE=fabs;1207346]Hi and welcome.

Just one question. Why do you think you would get £220 for your kit lens? It retails new for under £100 and, bearing in mind the vast majority of sony users have or have had this lens, it may be difficult to find a buyer anyway.[/QUOTE]

well...the price for the A700 battery grip has shot up from £157,up to £223 in cameraworld...:bang:christ,you would think they would trying to intice folk into getting the economy going, and not the reverse...

I would get it now if you want it, is £26 worth waiting months for one?

Everything appears to have shot up. I notice the teleconverters have gone up to £300+. Who knows what will happen in the future. Your choice I'm afraid Stan.

i'm going to be selling mine, but as said before...i have to contact a member on here to give him first dibs,as he contacted me first when i mentioned i was probably going to sell it...

if he's no longer interested, are you?

Yeah I would be Stan but couldnt get the money together for about two weeks.

Hello!
Stan the Man recommended I introduce myself here - I have an A100 with kit lens, but looking to possibly upgrade in the near future.
Also desperately seeking some new lenses, all I have is the kit lens (18-70), Minolta 18-55, and a Sigma 28-200.

Hopefully I can steal the wisdom of everyone here :D

welcome selkie...they're a great bunch on here, sort of our own little forum within a forum IYSWIM

as fabs said..the A100 is still a great camera..you might be better off investing in some glass...maybe a replacement for your kit lens, like the sigma 17-70,or a 75-300 which would be what you need for bird shots etc...or the 105 sigma for your macro work.....so much kit,so little money ;)
