geewiz you guys go through cars like underwear. Unbelievable!!!! I've been driving since I was 17 and have never been without a car but I've only had two! My first car was a ford taurus. I'm now driving a GMC safari mini van. That's it! My hubby is a mechanic tho, I can't kill em even if I try!!! :D

Jewel

Well, i'm still a young 'un in terms of cars, so here is my list:
- Seat Ibiza Mk1 1.5 GLX (very quick for a first car, looked great, interior was full of hay(!))
- Renault 19 1.4e RN 5 door (known as the "Family saloon" - not very trendy, but was comfortable and had a lot of kit)
- Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16V (burnt orange with GT anthracite wheels - had a K&N filter that made it whistle when I booted it. Great fun)
- Renault Megane Coupe 1.6 16V Monaco (top spec, leather, CD changer, air con etc. Done me proud for 2 years, will be selling up in january)
- ....Who knows? Will be buying something in the new year. Probably a turbo diesel, probably a VW (unless I get a pay rise!)

Matt

Had plenty of cars in the past but can't remember them all... :(

This is my current wheels.

VW Golf 150bhp TDI. I had it chipped to 190bhp and it is pretty rapid now with excellent economy.. :thumb:

golf1.jpg

golf3.jpg

Renault 11 GTX 1.7
Renault 19 1.4
Ford Fiesta XR2 Mk2
Peugeot 205GTi 1.6
Renault Clio Sport 172 Mk2
Honda Civic Type R 04, plus 6k of modifications

A short list for 20 years driving :ponders:

Suzuki GSX 125 - prior to passing car test but great fun on the farm when I was living in Linlithgow
Vauxhall Cavalier
Series 1 Landrover LWB - great for cruising around town with the lid off :nut:
VW Polo Coupe (wifes car)
Vauxhall Vectra 1.9TDI estate
Ford Escort 1.8 (wifes car)
VW Passat 1.9TDi
Ford Focus 1.4CL (wifes current car)
Audi A6 2.4 V6 with the lazyboy 6 speed auto (current car)

Driven hundreds of others through work but nothing particularly memorable. Mind you I'm now pretty much of the view that a car just needs to be reliable, comfortable and fast enough to get me from A to B and back again whenever I want. Must be due for a mid-life crisis and an impractical sports car soon though :D

How did that affect the insurance?

Must say I've been tempted by the chips for the 330D - I'm probably being greedy because it's 204bhp as standard but then I've seen both 240bhp and 260bhp chips

Matt.

The chip is un-detectable from the outside because it basically Re-Maps the ECU from the serial port on the dashboard.

The car has been for its annual service at the VW main agent, They plugged their laptop into it to erase the warning lamp about its service and it was not detected at all.. :whistle2:

I havent been in touch with my insurance about it as yet.. :embarasse

:(...think they could check ECU if involved in accident. They'll do anything not to pay out.
