its an 11w energy saving bulb & thats pretty much how it looks in real life

i know
im gonna have a lot of fun with this camera

You still need to set the correct wb in the camera - even with the 5DMK2. ;)

See now I know I was only joking n all and I know you were using an orange light but thats a much nicer photo.

I was a bit bored, and that is the closest I am gonna to get to processing a 5DmkII shot in a long time :(

Not bad for 2500 ISO!!!

that is a lot better...the one i posted is a jpeg max quality slightly cropped & reduced in size
the canon software you get with the camera is a bit basic & you can't do a lot with it but my copy of Aperture won't open the raw files from this camera ....Aperture 2.2 is coming out soon & will support the 5d2 hopefully

I don't rely on magazines in Tesco; does your problem involve reading, magazines. Tesco or all or part of the above? There are no reviews of this camera in the magazines, there are no reviews of this camera on the internet. That probably means there are very few production units of this camera. The only examples that exist of its output are moving pictures. Why no stills? There seems to be something wrong. It may get fixed.

I think its the fact that Tesco are only likely to stock a few camera mags and the ones that sell will be consumer ones. They may do a 5d2 test but it won't be as good as one of the more specialist mags. Oh and there are plenty of images around from it. Its how people know about the black spots issue.

Does the black spot problem not justify Russell's original post asking is this camera any good. At the time he posted there were very few if any photos being show that had been taken with the 5DII and now with in days of being available to the public in large amounts we have found the first IQ problem. It's has now become apart that yet again Canon has launched a new Camera with severe problems.

It's not surprising Nikon are increasing market share.

The post you quoted was 2 days ago. He was asking why there were no stills 2 days ago. 2 days ago there were plenty of images around. Maybe not on TP but many on other forums. A week ago there were plenty around and the black spots issue had just come to light. The black spots isn't a severe issue unless you pixel peep.

I just copied them from the web, but a £2000+ camera from the top manufacture should not have such problems at all. After the 1dIII AF cock-up you would have thought they would have made sure there was no problems with the 5DII.

Maybe when trailing per-release models they should not only send them to the top pro togs who know what they are doing, but let a couple of less experienced togs have ago.

IF they can't get this fix very very quickly, Canons reputation is going to be dented again.

Now there is also a video with black dot, but I kind of think this is a hoax

Yer but are they 100% crops or not? They look like 100% which was my point about pixel peeping.

Have a look at this. Looks fine to me.

Even the large version of that image is only 1200 pixels Pete, and I doubt the dots would show at that size.

To be fair , Canon have already said they have any easy fix for this, but it's really not good enough for a camera being launched on the market and supposedly exhaustively tested.

I know. I just wanted to show that the camera takes good images and its only if you pixel peep that you see them. I wanted to get in there and remind people of this before the doom and gloomers turned up going "Oh noes its so bad, its so bad"

The black dots issue has been "fixed". It was a combination of noise reduction settings, the default combo. Switch some noise reduction stuff off, problem solved.

Its a decent work around until they sort it properly.

Good camera IMO.

Gary.

LOL. It's true Pete, but it's such a shame they've been given the ammo. ;)

Aye for sure. I should be laughing like a girl now I'm a Nikon guy but the issue is only there if you look. People should remember just how good it is.

Indeed! All manufacturers have their issues with cameras from time to time anyway, it's just a shame that Canon are having their share at the moment. It certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if I was in the market for a 5DMK2 anyway.

you will get it if you have a number....i love it to bits already but its too dark to have a play now...just shot a bit of video with it & it looks very very good

My DHL tracker hasnt changed since yesterday morning, still showing as east midlands :cautious:

sounds as though it's at the main depot..probably the airport as my camera came from Asia...then i think it gets moved on to a local sorting depot then on to the van/lorry & to your door where mine arrived around 1.30pm....you will have it tuesday

Hmm okay.
I wont panic just yet then :bonk:

Yep, that is one big detailed image. Cant wait to try mine out.

I wish it was tuesday already, or even tomorrow, so that I could see my camera actually making progress on its journey towards me.

im still getting used to this camera in aperture priority mode but im getting there slowly

you may not see any movement on your delivery until tuesday morning canon_togger but you will get it tuesday if Bentonville gave you that day for delivery

Blooming eck, that took an age to download then I had to update DPP and Canon Raw and Adobe Camera Raw to see it properly. Still, it contains a whole lot of detail and is certainly making me think seriously about a 5D MkII when my Christmas bonus gets paid.

be even better when the sun returns...weather was very murky when i took that shot

I'm not sure if there's anything in this - a fellow wedding tog was due to get his 5D II last Friday but was called by his supplier to say that Canon UK had delayed shipments 'due to a problem with the camera'. They gave no more information than that, but it's not expected before 2009 now.

That problem could be the black dots issue, but even still, would that stop production? I'd have thought it was a firmware issue given that Canon are preparing a statement on it. See the news section of this site.
