Yes
I read some where on the internet last night that China have had to drop the value of their goods by 3.1%, i cant remember why they said it has dropped but it definatly has.
I used the good ole jessops as an example, it used to be £1212 for the 7D its now £1179, ok i know thats only a 2% drop but its better than before.

OR am i speaking from lack of experience with this happening all the time?

I thought most cameras were made in Japan not China so I'm not sure what the relevance is TBH.

Most cameras are indeed made in Japan.

I think the 3.1% figure is probably an average drop in prices for exported goods from China, noteworthy because it's been the fastest growing exporter of goods in the world for some time now and this probably the first time that the boom has shown any signs of letting up.

Even if the popular camera marques were made in China, consumer electronics may not necessarily make up part of the average :)

you will find that even though there japanese companys, very few of them make there stuff in japan.
it costs them alot less to get them made in china/tiawan/thailand ect.but can still inforce there QC.
99% of stuff is made in china now, even british companys sent parts there to be built into the final models as thats cheaper than british labour.

Exchange rate changes are the primary cause of price fluctuations.
