Opinion is divided as to whether that's a VW or a Porsche. Personally prefer its predecessor, the Karmann Ghia.
That paint finish is terrible!
That paint looks very "orange peely". Possibly a cheap respray, especially given the "wrong" (?honest!) bonnet badge. Seems a bit strange that what was a very expensive car when new would be rebuilt like that - even a technical write off.
Pretty car. Prompted me to find out a little more about it. https://vandp.net/sales/2008/1936-derby-bentley-4-25-litre-eddie-hall-race-car/
But this is just the purchasing price, followed by the running costs then ... ---
Oddly, apparently not too huge. Mechanical spares are available through the drivers' club (and the things are built like tanks so don't wear too badly) or relatively easily fabricated. Damage that happens through racing is the same sort of cost be it an Austin 7 or a 4 1/4 Bentley - panels need beating and that's a specialised job! TBH, I doubt a new owner would use it much anyway - it's got modern race provenance and it looks the part so why risk bending it! A few hundred miles per year to and from local shows would be my guess - the owner probably has another that he/she will use for touring anyway!!!
Excellent!!! You are right
