Having been perusing the landscape section recently, I thought it might be fun to see if we could get a thread going that tries to capture as much of the British and Irish coastline as possible.

The idea is simple to post an image(s) of a particular spot around the coast, hopefully showing a bit of land and water, and see if we can cover the diverse range of landscapes on offer.

It would be great to see how quickly we could cover the entire coastline. I will leave this going for a couple of weeks and then produce a map showing which areas have been covered. Hopefully this can be editable so anyone who posts can put their flag on the map.

Here are a few to get started. Cornwall is my favourite place in the UK, so my offerings are:

Porthcurno, Cornwall:

Porth Nanven, Cornwall (Dinosaur Egg Beach):

Wheal Coates, St Agnes, Cornwall

Not sure if this has been done before (can't find one similar using the search function but if there is, please point me in the right direction)

Cheers

#3 is my fave, nice one! I'm off to Cornwall at the end of the month, gonna have to scope out some locations!

Love the old tin mine one. Great shot

A great idea Simon

I'm not sure I have any decent coastal shots but I'll contribute a few from Scotland.

My eyes are being fooled by "Tay entering the North Sea Dundee". Is that an oil/gas rig? It looks like it's floating in mid air, my eye can't place at what depth that's supposed to be, it's either in the sea and it's massive or it's stuck on the side of the tower block, in which case it probably isn't a rig!

Thanks for your images, Loch Sunart is now on my list of must visit UK places (-:

The attractively named Port Muck on the East Antrim coast, Northern Ireland.

Great idea for a thread!

Cheers,

Simon.

It's in the water and it's massive. It's the Rowan Gorilla VII which is a 'jack up' rig. It sits like a ship on the water with it's legs going up the way (that's how they get about) then the rig Jacks the legs down to touch the bed and the platform continues to jack it's way up the legs into the air. It was in for a refurb and obviously in shallow water. Out at sea more of the legs would be under the water.

Another couple taken from the cottage we stay in at Loch Sunart.

This is fantastic folks! Did not expect quite so many I. So little time. I wonder how long it will be before we get right around?

Great pics and contributions so far; will have a decent look when I get home and on a decent screen rather than my mobile.
