I think it all depends what you're used to. The biggest perceived speed increase I've ever had was when I moved from E8400 to i7. Everything just runs very, very snappily. The laptop i7 - whilst fast - is noticeably slower than my main machine even though it ranks at 6000 odd on that benchmark. I'm sure the next upgrade (in a couple of years) will be a similar jump and I'll wondered how I managed with what I have now :shrug:
maybe in an ideal world we would love the best but i know i never will be able to afford it,(out of interest what is a ruff figure of cost you machine) dont have to answer, mine a couple years old well probably more like 5.
not only that just cheacked my cpu temp on the bios and its goes between 35 and 37, just realised i didnt have cool and quiet on to.
now core temp says my cores are running at 40 and 48

still dont get it its an £80 processor ranked 127 out of like 5000 processors and some of them are like £1000.
