D50 - D60 help

Thanks for replying.

Its set to Auto. I keep changing it and it resets itself if you use a mode button. Same thing happens with ISO which is annoying.

Set both cameras to 'M' mode and try changing the settings that way. Also, make sure you click OK rather than back or the settings won't be saved.

Just not getting a grip on the D60 at all.

D50 lets you set ISO behind for the preset modes as well. D60 goes back to Auto. This is confusing me.

Could someone spare the time to give me the best default settings for normal household shots of kids?

im still trying to work out why you bought a D60 when you had a D50 as there isnt much difference in the cameras. I saw your posts yesterday about the 2 cameras and and totally lost as to why you wasted money on the D60.

GAS takes another victim.

Hi,

Have not really done this for the right reasons. Bought as my small zoom broke, so instead of just buying a zoom, I have opted for a kit. I was lucky enough to only pay £260 for a D60 and 18-55mm VR lens with a 2 year warranty.

I still have my options open to sell either body and use the lens, which I am impressed with. I am not a serious photgrapher by any means and only average 120 pics a month. Normally family and holidays only, but after using a 35mm SLR most of my life, I find digital campacts dont hit the mark in low light.

Outside even in low light I am very happy with the results. Its just the white balance, but am learning to overcome this and shots are improving to a level I am happy with.

I nearly bought a Sony A350 on Wednesday night for £650, so have saved nearly £400 quid that I could not afford really, so either outcome with the D50 - D60 is not going to break my heart or wallet.

Thanks

Barry

PS whats "GAS takes another victim" mean?

A simple way around it would be to shoot in raw and then convert them when you get home.

Get out of Auto mode.

ISO and WB stays put to whatever you set it at in "A" mode (sorry I've never used Auto modes on a camera).

I use modes, but not normally Auto

I can set them using P S A and M settings, but if I use one such as Landscape mode, set it up and turn the dial it resets to Auto next time. If you changing Foucs methos, White balance and ISO its a pain

Trying to work out if this normal.
