The bright and clear weather today got me out to test the D850
where —and in the conditions— it is meant mainly… in wildlife.

This Muscovy drake offered the perfect test situation in terms
of DR (white feathers on very dark stump) and fine focus tuning.

The full figure duck suffered a 25% crop — since the secne was
at a distance— and the last picture is a severe crop at 100%.

What do you think?

A great tool in the right hands yielding impressive results.
For a 100% crop that is excellent.

You cant knock those results but;) how far did the camera take it before your PP ability took over, i see it being in the hands of many users that can get no where near results as good as that.

…how far did the camera take it before…

Good morning Mike, and thanks for the comment!
I did take the same shots with the D810 an other gimbal
and the two had very similar captures but for the pixels
count and the Slight difference in DR… and the noise le-
vel of the trigger!

This is an uncropped jpg of an unedited RAW where I did…
— contrary to what many think — protect the whites at all
costs by shooting to the left.

First thing is i am viewing on a very old laptop while my desktop is in hospital :D but you look to have pulled a lot out of it in PP, nice job.

impresses me just how much detail

Yes, that was a decision maker for me… resolution, And DR.
Mind you, The D810 was producing top files and still is!

This beast is on my shopping list. Currently using a d750 which tbh, had not let me down on quality to date (other than a couple of user / owner mishaps) but the files the d850 producers are like nothing else I’ve see to date. Top job

The level of detail in that 100% crop is very impressive Daniel, as are your shooting skills and PP work
