Does your Canon 15-85mm lens barrel wobble?

Just bought a used Canon 15-85mm and I'm a bit concerned to find that the lens barrel has a lot of wobble when extended to 85mm.

There is also some lens creep when I point it down, it starts to creep from approx 28mm and self zooms to 60mm.

Wondering how normal this is, does mine need a tightening up?

My Canon L lenses didn't do this, but they were rather more expensive!
 
Iv'e just replied to this very question on the Canon forum and maybe you are the same person, if not, here was my reply.:)

"I bought my 15-85 in December last year, it was new with the 7D. So far I have had no issue with lens creep and certainly no wobble. However, I have read on this and other forums where people have had lens creep with this lens.

Maybe try swapping for another one."
 
seems to be a common characteristic of this lens when used
I have one like this works fine
 
No creep on mine. Camera has taken about 10,000 shots, mostly, but not all, with this lens. Very, very, slight wobble when fully extended, but I'd never noticed this before I just tried it. Mine is just over 2 years old.

My 28-135 does this but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the photography, so I'm not concerned - though it did worry me when I first noticed it - as I had just attempted to 'wrench' off a P filter ring that wasn't there and I still wonder if I contributed to it :blush:

That wasn't me, it was the seller who posted!
 
Thanks for your prompt replies.

I have a happy outcome for me on this.

I contacted the seller about my concerns and very fortunately he's popped over, looked at the lens and agreed to a refund.

My daughters use Nikons and even their cheap and cheerful 18/55s & 55/200s have much tighter construction.

I was concerned about how long the lens might last as well as variable image quality if the wobble went in one direction and then another!
