Not the shot I was after, but sometimes you take what you can get and enjoy the experience. I was at a particular dive site where a pod of dolphins live. You need 2 things to line up for the best shots and neither happened on this occasion. The prevailing current is north to south which gives good visibility - this time we had a south to north which meant visibility down to about 10 metres.
Secondly, the dolphins here are sleeping - they sleep with half their brain shut down at the time, and whilst they keep swimming, they have zero interest in interacting with you. Awake, they will come within inches of you. The above pod - I'm reliably informed is 5 females with a calf
Still, any day you see dolphins underwater wild and free is a good day - especially when an 18 foot whale shark swims alongside the boat on the way home!
