EOS450 Macro lens

If you give some idea of budget, that will help as lens prices differ quite considerably. Also, what do you plan on photographing? If it is bugs etc then you would suit a different lens to say just shooting flowers.

Those questions will help people to give you much better advice on what is out there. Alternatively, use the search function in the forum as there's loads of threads about macro lens's

And welcome to the forum, it's a great place to get all sorts of info

I reckon the best cost-effective solution is a nifty fifty and a set of decent extension tubes. That way, you get a nifty fifty too...

Canon EF-S 60mm Macro. Sharpest lens ever made? It's certainly up there. Absolutely stunning. Slick focusing down to 1:1 and you get a nifty-sixty :)

Why not have a look at the Canon MP-E 65MM F/2.8 macro lens :love:

Certainly true, but it would cost more than double the 50 plus tubes, and is a lowly f2.8

Certainly a sharper option, but you pays your money and takes your choice.

Having a 60mm Macro I can highly recommend it, although maybe with the prices at the moment a 50 plus tubes is a better short term option?
