OK, first to casess: I'm fighting a nast conditionn which is restricting me to home until I get the all-clear. Hence I have little to play with other than the back garden (which is happily going to seed as I cannot tend it at the moment.

Whatever, I have tried to make something of it - something that I can use to advanntage when I becaome more mobile again and can find better subjects.

So, what I am trying to do is to do something a little impressionist. Try to change things such as leaves into dabs of light. Make it look less like a photo. *

My set up is simple: A garden, a Fujifilm XT-5 with a Takumar "nifty fifty".

I've looked at various fifferent approaches but noe seemed satisfactory to me. Using ICM (intentional movement in the camer leads to streaks of bright lights, and also what looks just like motion blur. Zooms in nd out look like a cheap time travel pastiche.

So my technique was this: multiple exposures (in my case 9), A gap in the foliage where my dog goes to lay eggs, and a light breeze. Rather than use long exposure times, I went for sharp images of the scene, frozen in successive shots as it moved around.

I'm sort of gettng there, but any commennts wold be appreciated.

* I'm aware also that the final technique may lead only to pctures which are somewhat naff, but it's really only the technical part of the exercise that keeps me going.

Cheers. I have a few good few that I've played with.

This one could d with a bit more light, and maybe just a bit more sharmness, along with a cuple of subjects in the frame. It's fun to work with wht little you have.

Might be interesting to make multiple versions in black and white with different degrees of turn around the centre to create some rotary ICM effect. It would be like looking into a black hole.

An interesting project and I hope you are soon feeling better. Have you seen Pep Ventosa's impressionist technique ? This YouTube video explains it

Thanks for that! It's great to see someone independently do it a differeent way. Minee is possibly more camera-cetric than his, but I'm planning to eperiment with large format on this. Sometimes for me my digital is a proofing tool! His approach is a very good one indeed, and his final product is excellent.

I guess that I am doing more while taking the image. I feel free to adjust settings throughout, and I like to use EV in a couple of the shots in order to keep highlights alive.

The light here is improving after a few dull weeks. I'm looking forward to going further with this.

If I get it right it's just something I can use occasionally. Another arrow in the quiver.

Oh, and thanks re my health. Chemo is actually going without any major issues (yet!!!!!))

I did one while using zoom. It ended up a bit ike a 60s sci-fi timetravel. It is really open to eperimentation.
