Probably why the fabric of the Country is breaking down when people hold opinions that the law is optional!
Not at all - people have always held opinions that the law is optional. In the case of 'good' citizens, it is usually with the caveat I applied, while for 'bad' citizens it is usually in the hope that they are not caught.

Your avatar is a picture of a fast car. Have you even broken the speed limit, intentionally or otherwise (I don't care BTW - unlike some here, I don't have a problem with drivers speeding if done safely)? If so, you are a law breaker, just like the guys from ER, though one might argue they have a better moral basis for doing it because they are trying to make the world a better place.

FWIW I don't support their actions, but it's silly to complain about photos which are strong and effective because they were taken of people breaking the law.

There was a good documentary about Extinction Rebellion on the BBC - basically a modern day 'Cult' of misguided youngsters run by a hippy eco warrior. The Organisation should be made illegal and all assets/funding seized from them by the Courts.
Because it isn't -it is a load of complete and utter balls.
If these people really cared, which they don't, they'd be protesting in china, trying to stop deforestation in the Amazon, cleaning up litter and planting trees. But they are not - they are rebels with a very misguided cause.
Most scientists disagree with man made global warming - it is a hoax so you don't protest at the massive taxes imposed on fossil fuels - it was started by Maggie Thatcher to defeat the Coal Miners and used fake science - she even admitted it in her autobiography.
It’s all becoming like the “boy who cried wolf” and now a 16yr old kid gets brainwashed by this s***, decides to spit her dummy and not turn up to school. Some Facebook later and now we have this carry on.
The lunatics have taken over and most are falling for the propaganda!
it's the biggest hoax in recent human history IMO.
If you were a gambling man you would pick a theory that you knew was going to happen naturally (climate change) then find a tenuous link to human activity - trouble is they initially called it global warming then when they found this was also false they changed it to climate
I got it - just like I get the whole man made climate change is a rouse to tax and control us.
Dear me.

As I understand it XR is protesting about species extinction AND climate change. So at least those who profess to love wildlife and mourn its loss should be sympathetic.

You mean the kid or me?

The thing is, he and his generation are going to have to cope with the results of our profligacy. It's not that we could call it ignorance becuase we've known what we've been doing for decades. It's just that we've chosen to ignore it.

Willful ignorance in a lot of cases. Choose not to believe the experts because to do so would mean you might have to think about some lifestyle changes.

The kid.

The thing is, with or without our “profligacy” the climate and weather would be exactly the same.

Sorry Steve, that is just complete ignorance of the facts.
No, Roger it isn’t.

How did climate change happen in the past before fossil fuels were burnt?

How come the predictions of Al Gore have categorically not happened. These “experts” are as ignorant as they come and to heed what they say foolish and stupid.

And no, he's not my son!
I would reply:
I resisted the new religion of global warming and tried to inform as many people as possible that it was a hoax.
Because a significant number of people fell for it the Developed nations of the world stopped the developing world from using cheap forms of energy so thousands died as a consequence due to poor health facilities and food.
I'm still not sure today son why so many people thought humans had enough power to stop nature - at least I haven't got blood on my hands from all the deaths that occured.

Someone once said that you don't want someone who can't even organise their own life to pull down and rebuild society.
The organizer is no more than a terrorist - costing the country a fortune and wasting Police time!
The global warming debate is already mentioned everyday on the BBC/Guardian - no need to heighten the debate.

Ah, because one person's predictions have not come 100% true, Climate Change is a hoax? Seriously?

There were dramatic changes to climate in the past from things like volcano eruptions and meteor strikes. Can you point to such a catastrophic event that happened recently? Nope - thought not.

It's quite sad when conspiracy confirmation bias is used to defend the unsustainable way of life that you so comfortably enjoy.

All that is simply smoke & mirrors Steve.
We are adding to the rising levels of C02 NOW ... that is FACT and everythig we do NOW will have an impact on the future, notwithstanding any other possible reasons for C02 emmissions.

(From what I remember Al Gore is not an "expert" he is simply a politician, or ex-politician.
I refer you back to my previous posts from NASA and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report.).

You really have avoided answering my questions!

How do we stop natural climate change?
https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/53/Begging-the-Question

If the climate were to change significantly for some 'natural' reason (i.e., something not caused by us, like the Chicxulub impactor that may have done for the dinosaurs), then it's unlikely we could do much about it. But the scientific consensus is that the current change we are seeing is caused by us, and therefore we can do something about it by changing our behaviour.

And what we do now - in terms of CO2 emissions - will affect our climate decades in the future. Or to put it another way what we did decades ago is affecting our climate now.

Unfortunately it is no use trying to discuss this sort of thing with climate change deniers because they just don't listen.

To misquote Buzz Aldrin at this appropriate time:

“Magnificent Confirmation Bias”.

Although, Desolation is where we are heading.

Maybe when the frothing at the mouth has ended, we can talk about the myth of growth that Capitalism espouses, and that has got us into this deadly mess.

Vesuvius, Mt St Helens, something in Iceland not that long ago.

And, by the way, the weathers more or less the same. The warmth right now - it’s called summer.

Sorry, but climactically b******t. None of these coincide with the temperature increases we are seeing now. The weather is not more or less the same. You are lapping up guff.

The temperature is barely increased.

The weathers as much as it’s always been. Cold, miserable and wet.

Indeed the do gooders moved away from the phrase “global warming” to “climate change” as they worked it it was getting colder, now it’s warmer.

These schmucks don’t have a clue and our chains are being yanked.

Fortunately the rapid growth seen in trees in Italy during this time is thought to be why Stradivarius violins sound so good as he used the wood from these trees - there's always a positive Mr.Pound Coin - try to be an optimist :D:D

Love you guys. Guff and Promise, stuck in orbit together. Enjoy the ride and please write something down for your children to explain to them how you spunked their future on your Confirmation Bias, and your strokeable, lovely, capitalist cameras.

Are you for or against capitalism.

See, from your tone I think your might be against it - and I also suspect a lot of climate change advocates are too - and the real motive behind promoting “green” political practices is to bring “socialism” to the western world.

Fortunately my children will be extremely well looked after - I have made sure financially they will have nothing to worry about. I also believe we all may still be around in 20yrs time so they will have to wait a bit longer for their inheritance; fingers crossed.

I assume you are for it. It has some benefits, but one fatal flaw. Looks like you’ve not noticed.
