Where from?

I love my Fusion wet blades, I've never had such a safer feeling wet shave and find it beats a dry shave 99% of the time ... BUT!! some morning I can't be arsed to go through the process, so something like this might be idea to just have at the ready

I haven't wet shaved since I was a teen. A friend of mine still uses an old style Safety Razor (How anyone considers them safe I don't know, (mind you I suppose compared to the cut throat razor it is a bit safer))

Shaving? Waste of time!!! :P

I prefer electric shaving, but find quality patchy. It seems my beard is particularly coarse and strong, blunting shaver heads sometimes in as little as 2 weeks. Last year I bought a Panasonic on offer, and within a month it was cutting poorly, after 3 months it took so long to shave I could barely get 2 days from a charge. Eventually I bought a new head for the previous Braun series 3, but after a few weeks it was only a little better, and then the batteries failed.

I'm now back to the Braun cruZer I bought in 2005, and I'm getting 8 days from a charge. It's small, light, and although it's falling apart, even with the old head it works ok. Ordered a replacement foil and cutter for it today, and hopefully it will be good for another few years.

I've been using that ^^ for years, it's just the lathering up prep that makes it slightly more a chore than a dedicated electric dry shave

Yes, the heads can be pricey, but they last an age

My son has started using one and prefers it, I didnt.

Use Harrys now but always cut myself and would prefer electric but never got on with them. When I shave I like to be super smooth although I tend to only do it every 3 days or so

Seems to be this one on evil bay...

I'm tempted to give one a try. I have Braun I've had for decades but it doesn't do anything like even a half decent job. Maybe these have got better since. I'm currently using a Harry's and it's the best I've had so far. I hate shaving. I have tough stubble but soft skin. If I don't shave for a couple of days I look like a werewolf.

PS.
I've bought one. If I don't like it it's your fault Paul! :D

I have honestly never once cut myself using a Gillette Razor, and I rush shave some mornings

its hard to go wrong for £14 i have been using it for a week and it does the job.
one thing it took me a minute to figure out
to turn it on you have to hold down the power switch for 3 seconds.

to be fair i am not expecting it to last years, but 6 months of blades cost me about this price so if it last longer its a bonus :-)

Over the decades I have used everything from my dads safety razor (IIRC I cut myself a few times when I started) to his old Remington electric razor......through Braun electric ones.................Wilkinson Sword wet and for many years Gillette as @Cagey75 shows in post #7

FWIW I have never find they last as long as Gillette claim, they dull too quickly and my beard growth is not that tough. The single blade trimmer section clogs way too easily but c'est la vie as I need to trim around my goatee

Shaving is just a fact of life and a bit like camera bags......................I have yet to find the perfect shaving solution.

NB during Covid I bought a Wahl clipper that still gets the occasional use as does my old Remington beard trimmer which must be over 40 years old by now and the internal NiCads still charge up and hold their charge well enough.

It might be that I'm a baby face lol, I barely need to shave every other day - I can get 3 weeks out of a Fusion head

Grow a beard , I have had mine now for 51 years , When I start looking like big foot give It trim with my trimmer.

I have used a battery shaver....

I prefer my wet shave, for my head. Twice a week. Proper shaving soap, shaving brush and a Mach3. I used safety razors too. Just got to go slow with them..

I can start smooth at 6:30, by 9am I'm feeling a little scratchy and by 12 positively abrasive. After 3 days it's long enough to be starting to feel soft.

A concern for me with cheap shavers is their environmental impact. I could buy a budget Panasonic once a year, but would be throwing away a whole shaver. It's much better to just replace the cutters even if it costs the same and have the unit last 10 years plus.

valid point , if mine works out i might invest in a more sustainable one but for me its still the blades and the film, whats the lifespan of them, i am also looking o see if i can get replacements for the cheepie.

@woof woof for me the changeover to try an electric is more not being restricted to a time and a place to shave, sounds weird but since retiring we do things differently, often at the moment me and the wife get up and spend a few hours on our hobby's and we shower about 11am so for me i can wizz my shave out whenever i want.

As above I have soft skin and tough stubble so if I can cut out a wet shave and replace it with an electric even just once or twice a week that could ease the pressure on my boyish soft skin :D and as you said, it's a good price. I did see the same one at sale for £40 odd at another seller.

When I do decide to shave it's either the Remington Quick Cut Pro if just going to stubble, thanks to the wide blade it's very fast and efficient, or if going smooth then it's a safety razor. at £8 for 50 razors it's pretty cost efficient.

I used to like the Gillette Mach 3 razors because the clear and open back made de-clogging them easy and most of the others at that time had lots of structural crap there, making the blades difficult to wash. A lot of the current stuff looks similar in design to the Mach 3 now.

Ironically, look what just arrived.

The latest Proglide Fusion blades with the battery handle are as good if not better than any electric shaver I've ever used. The blades aren't cheap, but if you look about on the likes of Amazon you can get decent packs of them - In my experience a Fusion blade will outlast any cheaper brand at least 5x [so you could say 1 blade is worth 5x a Wilkinson sword or whatever]

I've spotted Gillette at Costco before, I'll have a look out next time to see what specific ones they do. Only downside is having to visit Costco, the Glasgow one is little visiting the village of the damned.

I have used Gillette blue 2 for years.

Occasional little nick, but can get 2 months out of one blade.

Haven’t used an electric razor for close to 40 years.

I find it amazing that that the wet shavers can spare the time. My brother-in-law used to wet shave and had to do so twice a day consuming a total of at least 30 mins a day which meant he was spending at least 8 days a year shaving compared to my 5 mins a day. He had tried electric but his bristles were tough. So I accept that we may not all have a free choice in this matter. I was fortunate that an Uncle spoke to me just before I started shaving and said the decision I make could be important and he emphasised the time saved with electric.

Harry's for me, with their foam. The blades last well, the lubricating strip tends to break down before the blades go blunt but it's time for a fresh blade cartidge by then anyway, so no biggy.

They do a subscription thing but I pick mine up at a local Tesco when I need them. I don't shave much, maybe 3 times a week, I don't mind a bit of growth. It's a habit I formed in my 20's as my skin would react badly, becoming inflamed when ever I shaved, even wet. Only way I could control it was to shave less.

I've tried electric shavers now and again, last time during the pandemic and I got the same skin reaction as other times I've tried, so it's wet shaving for me.

I have used Fusion blades for a few years, but now find that after just a few shaves they seem as rough as a badger's jacksy. I suspect that China has something to do with that.
I'll be looking for a new brand of blade.

Wet shave once a week in the shower which takes a couple of minutes, the rest of the time I use an electric shaver.

Looks good, having spent my first working years selling things like shavers my only advice for you is to check the foil carefully each time before you use it. They can split and give you a nasty cut.

lol doesn’t take that long to wet shave.

My morning routine, teeth, shower & wet shave is less than 20 minutes
