    The Cf cards finally turned up for the camera this morning so on a cloudy horrible day I went out and took some photos got back on when i connected the camera to the PC for every photo I've taken there's 2 files an IMG file and something called a CR2 file?

    just wondering what a cr2 files is

    CR2's are the raw files captured by your camera.
    IMG's are JPG's versions of CR2's converted by your camera.

    That is because you set that both CR2 (RAW files) and JPG's
    (images) are to be written on the card for every SR.

    Depending on your operating system, they should preview, you can use Photoshop, Lightroom or the Canon software that came with your camera to view them. You'll probably find them a bit lack lustre in comparison to the JPG files, but they designed for processing, think of them as digital negatives.
