I open the cupboard and look at the stocks of film, 20 rolls and two reels of 35mm, 25 rolls of 120, 5 boxes of 5x4 sheet.

Its recognition that I am a failure as a film photographer - just what the flippin' heck am I saving it for ?

Its all bought and already paid for, that money has gone for good. The film in my cupboard is now Free Film, yet still I cling onto it.

Why ?

Shoot film like it is free should be my motto going forward. The sad thing is I will still buy more film to add to the stockpiles.

You’re not the only one. I bet there’s a few others including myself who have film sitting in a fridge for ages. I keep telling myself to use it for something special! :D

That old chest

That old chestnut.
Ha Ha !

I am going out getting a couple of pork pies, taking four rolls and not coming home till I have shot the lot. :)

Incoming four rolls of special rubbish. :ROFLMAO:

Hah... So I have 8 or 9 boxes of Velvia 50 4x5, 10 or 11 boxes of original Acros in 4x5, numerous boxes of Delta 100, FP4, some original Adox CHS25, as well as various boxes of E100 and negative film.

2 freezer drawers full :D

I hear you :)

I keep buying rolls of Velvia, Provia and E100 at £28-30 each to store in my fridge thinking they are a bargain (while I can still get them).

Then I think £30!! but then I factor in how much other prices have risen (plus wages) and the £4-5 per roll I paid when I was a struggling student (still on a grant) then £30 suddenly doesn't seem too expensive.

I keep buying when anything is on offer, my spare fridge is bursting. Our main fridge now has some film in it. I've had orders to remove it.
The speed (lack of) I get through through film, I've got enough to last about 4 lifetimes now. I'm trying to keep off any websites that have offers, avoiding ebay too.

I. DON'T. NEED. ANYTHING. ELSE.

Last lot of film from AW had the 'you're going to need a bigger fridge' sticker in it... I feel seen.

I don't think film is suddenly going to get any cheaper so it makes sense to have a reasonable buffer so you aren't pushed into buying at full price at any time and can wait for good offers.

Weirdly, for the first time ever, I am the opposite. Been running the fridge down for a while and I'm going to have to buy some more before a trip to Spain soon. Still weighing up which format to take.

What remains is some Ilford FP4, HP5, some E100 and P160 in 4x5 and a brand new box of 8x10 HP5.

Those fridge gods are powerful they do not want to let go of the film,

I forgot my phone, the butchers had sold out of the medium pork pies and only had large left, shot a half dozen on two rolls and my light meter batteries packed up down to only one camera and one roll ended up taking lots of scenic vistas of far away hills.

:(

I have so much film in my spare fridge-freezer (that I bought for the express purpose of keeping film) that I have an app to record what I have. Most is now expired, but as it's always been frozen or fridge it 'll be fine I'm sure. I really need to get out more though...

Better than being at work.

Photography and a massive pork pie. WIN-WIN :ROFLMAO:

At first I thought you meant four bread rolls to go with the pork pies. I thought that was a lot.

Actually, four rolls of film in one day seems a lot to me.

That would be a years supply, to some of us. Maybe more. :D

I made the mistake of buying about ten rolls of Fomapan at one time. I'm still trying to get through it now. It's expired in the meantime.

My back is still hurting from when I pulled it rebuilding a wall the other week, of course falling down the run off gully and landing on my back last week didnt help the recovery process, jobs are piling up. Stiff as a board after today's walk, so having the rest of the week off. :)
