Full Frame - One Prime (a bit of fun)

Okay so this is just a bit of fun to see what people come back with.

If you could get the full frame camera of your choice and only one prime lens for shooting everything, what would it be?
 
D700 & 500 F4..............:)
 
Nikon D700 & Sigma 50mm f/1.4. It's my favourite combo :)

I wouldn't say no to a Nikon 35mm f/1.4 G, but wouldn't fancy paying for it!
 
5dII and 35L for me... or a 135L... such a hard question!

35L, I've decided. Can you buy me one? :D
 
D700 + nikon 50mm 1.4 g

Only picking the nikon over the sigma as thats what i have and not tried the sigma. Do have the sigma 85mm 1.4 and its a better lens. But if i can only have one prime for everything then the longer focal length is too restrictive for many scenarios

it was good enough for most people back in the day, and for good reason

Even as a Nikon user I'd have a 1DsIII and 35L
 
D700 & AF 55mm 2.8 Micro, by far the most useful/versatile prime I've used.
 
Canon 1Ds Mk3 [or its imminent replacement] and the Canon 14mm L

I'd be hard pressed to pick just one.

  • 35mm is just such an amazing field of view, great for street photography and general documentary style shooting. Really nice for close portrait work too.
  • 50mm a jack of all trades.
  • 85mm an amazing focal length for portraiture work (the 85L looks too good for words) but very limiting as a single lens.

I'd have to go with the 35L on the 5D MKII.

Up my 5D to the MkII and my Canon 50mm F1.8 to the 50mm F1.2. Although my 50mm F1.8 is no replacement for my workhorse being the Canon 24-70 f2.8L, it's a great fun combo being reasonably portable and seems to produce some great images.
 
1Ds3 and 1200mm f5.6L ;)
 
OM2 + 24mm f2.8 does me just fine for my usual purposes, However if I had to pick one to cover all eventualities then it goes to Pentax LX and 50mm f1.4

Good post, I was going for 5d + 85, then I saw this and thought, yeah 2 lenses in 1, brilliant idea.

I'd recommend it. It's light, discrete and the 50mm is perfect on the M9. The glass really makes the difference, and it doesn't get much better than the 50 Lux.
 
5DII and 24L failing that a M9 and a 21 1.4? Either would be a fantastic present for my upcoming birthday in 6 months?
