Google images - How do you get near the top?

When you carry out an image search on say google, yahoo etc, thousands of images are displayed from all over the net. How can you get yours nearer the top of all those displayed?

I host my pics on Flickr, so any images of mine that are on the image search are then linked back to my Flickr account.

Interested to know what you can do to maximise visability.

For web site Good Meta tags is the only way

If there is a lot of related text content on the page that shows the picture then I believe this will help too i.e an image on it's own will not rank as well as an image + some paragraphs of text with the image keywords in.
