Got my Mac Mini today YAY!

Apple estimated delivery of my Mac to be Friday 13th, no prob there. I had the day off yesterday and looked at the order tracking this morning (Thurs) to find that the Mac was delivered yesterday. So it was nice to see a small box sitting on my desk when i got to work this morning. :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

What a tiny machine it is! I will set it up tonight and take some pics and add them to this message. Can't wait to get home now :thumbs:

It's now 'tonight' and here is a pic of the Mac Mini. So far i must say i'm mighty impressed. Everything just works, no problem so far!

It's sitting there taunting me, "open me....open me" it says. "Go on you know you want to" But NO i must resist!!!!:lol:

So far so good. I'm impressed with the look, the way things are laid out and i love the thingy at the bottom with all the icons, sorry the real name has gone right out my head!! :D Seems a breeze to use, things are easy to find, easy to sort out and fast. Oh and so far everything just works, no messing!

I'm going to get everything set up on it before switching permanently but i can't see it being a problem (touch wood!! :D).

Wh y thank you! Yes they are indeed Kef Q 1.5s rigged to a Cambridge Audio amp. To me this set up sounds so much better than any PC Speaker set up except perhaps for BOSE audio.
 
i'm dead jealous actually, you get to use leopard and have a faster machine than me :(

Which spec did you get?

If you want to upgrade it let me know, it costs £22 for 2Gb certified Crucial ram for the mac which would take a 2Gb to 3Gb or if you have bought the 1Gb the same upgrade will get you to 2.5Gb or £33 for a 1Gb and a 2Gb for 3Gb.

1st job last night was to import iTunes which is THE most important job!!!!!

Next will be Dreamweaver MX, Photoshop 7 (full version - not Elements), Lightroom 2, Open Office, Canon DPP software and Firefox 3. plus any other little prog i think i will need.

Thats my weekend sorted!:thumbs:

NeoOffice is a better port of OpenOffice for OSX - The OpenOffice in itself is a bit buggy on OSX.

have you got an external FireWire drive for time machine yet :)

I might have to sell my spare mac mini with its 320gb drive and memory upgrade, ooo more glass..... Thinking......
 
Nope not got a firewire external drive yet but it is on my shopping list though.

I do have a 150gig usb external drive which i'll be using but i would like one just for Time Machine.

No it's slower. The theoretical max bandwidth is higher but the overheads are much higher the real world transfer speed is more like half of FW400 and about quarter of FW800.
 
I was backing up to USB drive yesterday (ICYbox with a Samsung 1tb F1 drive) and was getting 40mb / sec.

Still took an eternaty to back up 3tb of data though :D

I know :D, but being that i love everything 80's, i started to archive them (along with 80's music videos)
 
I too :love:LOVE:love: 80's music but only electronic synth music like Human League, Ultravox, Visage, Yello, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Devo, Fad Gadget, A Flock oF Seagulls, Freur, Jean Michelle Jarre, John Foxx, Kraftwerk, Logic System, Nash the Slash, OMD, Simple Minds, Soft Cell, Talk Talk, Thomas Dolby, Our Daughters Wedding, Japan, B-Movie, Yellow Majic Orchestra and of course the mighty Gary Numan!
