Help....Canon 550D

I hope someone can help. I have a Canon 550D with the "Live View" function. For some reason, when I have it in Live View mode, it simply will NOT shoot! I've tried it with all different settings, modes, etc. I''ve read the manual, which basically says focus and press the button. When I press the button, nothing happens. If I click the Live View button off, then I can take the picture (without changing anything else).

I don't know what else to try.

It seems to focus OK, though it takes awhile.

The box in the centre of the screen when using live view, normally white then when you achieve focus it turns green and if focus cannot be achieved it turns red and will not allow the shutter to fire.

It seems to focus OK, though it takes awhile.

Use the cover that Canon provide to cover the viewfinder when you are using live mode, and you will discover that it focuses much quicker.
