Help with CS3 and Canon 50D

Hi guys

First time out with the 50D today, and on return, transferring images to my computer was fine, but Bridge won't show them as images, and CS3 won't load them, saying they're the wrong file type.

I have shot in RAW

Any help appreciated

I'm afraid Camera Raw in CS3 doesn't support Raw files from the 50D

You will have to convert them to DNG or use DPP. Or upgrade to Photoshop CS4 of course.

I use DPP to convert to a Tiff, batch process and then use CS3 for changes I may like to make.

I had the same problem.

You can use DPP as the above poster mentioned, or you can download Adobe Camera RAW as a standalone (free) program to convert your .cr2's to .dng, or .tiff, or whatever.

I use Lightroom to import everything as .dng. Working in RAW is just annoying.

Squizza, my apologies, I'm talking nonsense :bonk: I've just checked and CS3 DOES support the 50D. I assume your problem is that you do not have the latest version of Camera Raw plugin installed. You need version 4.6.

Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter! If you put the plugin in the wrong place it won't work
