I'm wondering if anyone can help me with locations. I am looking for options for a few locations to shoot a fashion photo shoots around the south and i'm assuming what i'm looking for will be around the coast...

The location needs to be within a couple of hours from London. The location must have a large rocky area, lots of sheer rocks, and if it had some sort of cliff area that would also be very useful. Seeing as this location is likely to be around the coast, if there is a sandy beach nearby that's a bonus.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could work? If you have any image references then that would be very useful... I have been looking through the Landscapes section for some locations but it's proving to be more difficult than I thought!

I'm currently looking at Hastings as a friend mentioned they could have some potentially nice areas to use..

Weymouth could suit your needs as you have the beech and within a few miles, you have Portland Bill...........more rocks and cliffs that you can poke a stick at. Also you have Chisle Beach between the two which makes a great backdrop.

Another suggestion would be Lulworth Cove.

Hope this has helped

Ian

Hastings would be good for cliffs and large rocks and you've got camber sands about half an hours drive away. The best location is below Hastings Country Park which can be accessed from Rock a Nore in Hastings Old Town or more easily from Pett Level.

The Images below were taken at the Rock a Nore end but the cliffs etc. are similar all the way along. The waterfall is only any good in the winter, it dries up to a trickle in the summer.

Not so much South but west of London you have South Wales approx 2 hrs away...

We have plenty of rocky/cliff beaches.

Search for Glamorgan Heritage coast, Nash point, Southerndown, Dunraven bay etc...

All these areas short drive just outside cardiff....

If you want the classic white cliff background, head for the Seven Sisters near Eastbourne... No sandy beaches though. Frequently mis-used as "white cliffs of Dover" on film (as the white cliffs of dover are often green...)

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions and links to images.

I am reviewing all of these, some of them look amazing and exactly what i'm looking for. Portland Bill in particular looks brilliant, it has the sheer rocks which is the most important thing.

Wow. This has given me another amazing idea, thanks for this location.

I have visited Eastbourne many years ago when I was a kid but never remember these white cliffs - how could I miss this!?!

You've got some excellent suggestions from everyone - makes me even more fed-up with the flatness of west london :shake:

 you can't see them from Eastbourne, they are round the corner from Beachy Head (the first of the Sisters). The classic view is from Exceat / Seaford. There's also only 4 ways to get down the bottom : 2 of which involve the risk of getting cut off by tide by the long walk from either end, the third is down the dodgy scaffolding steps at Birling Gap, and the other is very sad downside to having a nationally-famous high cliff...:'(

I grew-up in the village next to them... think I did manage to realise they were something special, although I mostly wanted the beach to have more sand and less pebbles! It had great rock-pools though...

p.s.
general point to anyone walking up on the cliffs, don't go near the edge like you might on a granite cliff - the reason the chalk is so loverly and shiney and white is 'cos its constantly falling-off, so the firm-looking surface on top can be a lethal overhang... safety fences go over quicker than they can be put up!

Charmouth is a little bit further but possibly has what you are looking for and is quieter

There are a smallish cliffs around Margate, Westgate, Birchington on sea and up to Minnis Bay
