hey people im new to this have bought my self a nikon d3000 and this is the first picture i have taken with it could i get some feedback to how it looks its on aperture mode it seems a bit bright to me

hope this is in the correct place thanks

It was taken towards the sun which has reduced the contrast and washed it out a bit (no flare though), a lens hood would help assuming the sun isn't too low.

Alternatively avoid shooting towards the sun.
 
what was your metering mode? considering you have a couple of spot of (near) burn out and how bright the 'darker' areas are I'd guess you've used matrix/evaluative metering

You took at at a particular hash time of day for sunlight,4 o'clock today the sun was very bright and high in the sky, which will have washed it out a little.

not a brill subject really, it has lots of distractions in shot, sorry

but hey keep trying and youll get there,

new to DSLR its quite a lot different than point and shoot, but subject and composition are main stays of good photography, here a link to Brian Pertersons you tube, watch the videos Clicky linky and be inspired, heve fun with you new camera and I look forward to seeing better more thoughtful shots :thumbs:

OK I'll get a couple of the nikon ones and give them a read dont think theyll do me any good as I use Canon cameras :D

I really don't think Jamie took that photo thinking it was going to grace the cover of Time magazine. It's just a test photo, who cares about composition?
