How many cameras do you have and which do you prefer?

No
Ignoring the odd compact lying around and a 450d my daughter has I have 3.

1. 5d mk3. I love this camera. It will take some beating.

2. 1d mk4. Again I love this one too. Apart from its abilities, it just feels right in the hand.

3. 7d Mk2. No doubting it's abilities.

So which do I prefer? The 5d3 is brilliant and pretty much always the bit of kit I pick up for general shooting or people shots. If I'm doing wildlife, Motorsport, or shooting in bad weather it's the 1d4. The 7d2 I could probably live without. The ideal for me would be to keep the 5d3 and trade both the 1d4 and 7d2 in on a 1dx I guess. Although I might miss the crop factor

What about you? What's your situation?

I stil have all my films cameras (call me romantic!) from 35mm,
to 6x7, to 4x5. Nowadays, I rarely use them in my operations.

I have 3 DSLRs (D3S + D3X + D800E/MB-D12) that I use all the
time. I prefer them all mainly because of the 16 lenses that get the
best of those three bodies.

I needed some time to get used to the D800E as the D3S & D3X
are just made for my paws.

Still have loads of film cameras too! Lol

I have a bit of a collection of old stuff, some mine and some that belonged to my Dad. My current cameras are:

Canon 20D, 50D and EOS-M. Of these I guess the 50D is my favourite. It's certainly the one I use the most, though I would like a 7DII sometime soon.

Jeez I can understand pros having a load but you can't all be working photographers surely?

I have a Nikon D750 for my main camera and a Fuji X-E1 which I hardly ever use.

Fuji x10 which is my go to camera if I need a quick pic to go online

Fuji xe-2
Nikon d750

Neither of which get much use

Fuji ga645zi medium format film which isn't used anymore because a

Mamiya 6 has replaced it and is my newest and most used toy right new

Mamiya rz67 a huge tank of a camera that only really gets used if I need to do some close up film shots

Wista 5x4 field camera which is lovely and always comes out for the important things

10 X Series bodies and 14 lenses..I take it you're buying for a group of photographers and not just really indecisive yourself? :0)

Nikon D700. Fuji XT-10. Fuji X10. A Canon compact of some description. Some film SLR's and a MF as well somewhere.

No favourites - all just tools in the toolbox. The one I prefer is the best one for the task in hand. Wedding - D700. Urbex - D700 or XT-10. Day out on the beach while on holiday - Canon. Walk in the park with family - X10, etc. I went through a phase where I didn't use the D700 for several months as it would have been overkill or a deadweight for the situations I was photographing, but I've been using it every week recently for a project I'm doing currently.

I don't always want a big camera swinging round my neck, or the ultimate in image quality if all I'm doing is posting to facebook. No point taking a gripped D700 and F2.8 zoom on a day out to Blackpool when the Canon or Fuji will fit in my pocket for the undemanding photographs I'll be taking. Conversely,if the exposures are likely to be tricky, or I know I'll be printing big, or I need fast, accurate AF then it's the D700 or maybe the XT-10. Horses for courses, etc.

I have three digital cameras
Minolta Dimage - my first digital and no longer used
Canon 350D - my first DSLR and no longer used
Canon 650D - my current DSLR but still not my go-to camera
I also have film cameras:
Pentax MX - film but my all-time favourite camera
About 40 others which all get used on occasion but not very often.

My wife would say for too many and I would have to agree with her :D

Currently the line up is:

Nikon D7200, Nikon D750, Nikon D810

Olympus OMD EM1, Olympus OMD-EM II, Panasonic GX8 (new)

Both systems with nice glass.

Panasonic LX100 P&S

One of the Nikon may go (probably the D7200), and Maybe the EM5 II now I have a GX8 on the way.

Sony A7 - Great quality for when I want to indulge myself and get the best result I can. The files are beautiful and it's the best camera I've ever had.
Panasonic G1 - I love the handling of this camera. It's hampered by a relatively poor EVF and relatively poor higher ISO performance and it would be nice if it had auto ISO with the ability to dial in compensation in all modes, but it handles nicely and results at ISO 100 to maybe 800 are very good.
Panasonic GX7 - This has IMO a poor EVF and it could do with auto ISO with compensation in all modes.
Panasonic LF1 - This is barely a camera, IMO, but it's small an has an EVF.
Compact Canon Ixus of some description - Probably can't match the quality of a top of the line camera phone but it is a lovely colour.
Medion compact - This is frankly a very poor camera. The colours are often waaaay off and in a sort of Lomo way I'm never quite sure what the final image will look like but because of that and also because it was a present it finds a place in my heart :D

- I have:
Fujifilm X100
Fujifilm X-E2
and currently 10-24mm, 60mm, 55-200mm.
- I had: (in order)
Canon 5D mark 2 and many red ring lenses
Nikon D3100 with kit lens (<- start of photography as a hobby)
a number of P&S
Canon EOS 300 film (my parent's)

Out of all those, the X100 is with me the longest and is my favourite camera. I don't think I'll ever sell it on. In fact, it is so good, I'm happy to only use it and nothing else. Main reason is that it's light weight yet slows down my shooting to produce great photo recording my life rather than quick snaps. X100T has tempted me, but X-E2's sensor (same as X100T sensor) looks slightly strange to me, can't put my finger on it.

I had a good run with 5D, it taught me a lot about photography. But ultimately X100 replaced it for 90% of uses. So I ditched the 5D and lenses for X-E2 with specialised lenses to cover the other 10%, recouped money in the process.

I've just sold the last of my 35mm cameras and associated gear. I now have three medium format cameras that cover most eventualities:

Mamiya 7ii with 80mm and 43mm lenses, for general use, travel etc).

Pentax 6x7 for when I need an SLR (macro, still life, filters), don't want to risk taking the M7 or have a team of strong Sherpas.

Rolleicord Vb when I want to carry something small and light.

An iPhone for anything else.

Yashica FX-3 Film. Not used for a while now....

Sony A7. Everyday camera. I mainly use manual focus lenses so this is a great mix of using manual lenses/functions as with 35mm film but without the trouble of developing and being able to edit on my own style which I enjoy.

Canon 5D2. Not used for about a year now. Time to sell I think along with the 135L and 430EX.....

Lol I wish ;)
10 X Series bodies and 14 lenses..I take it you're buying for a group of photographers and not just really indecisive yourself? :0)

;)

I like that description indecisive sounds far better than disorder thank you :)
Alas I'm afraid to have to say just for me o_O:thinking:

Nikon D750 as my best, Olympus Em5-II which I use for travel, although I am looking at getting a high end compact and selling the Olly as I think that would suit me better for travel.

5Dmk2, Canon S100, Canon Sx200, Olympus C765, SJ4000, Drift Ghost HD, GoPro Her4, DJI Vision Plus, DJI Phantom3 Pro.

None f them are best at everything, for example the 5D don't fly too well and looks silly on my crash helmet.
The most impressive all-rounder is the Canon S100 and it's so small it gets used most.

5d mk3 - Only just got this looking forward to using it.
7d mk1 - Picked this a few weeks ago, but will be selling this on soon to find a cheap 1d mk4.

G/f has a 1000d.

It's probably easier to say I can't be arsed to count them - upwards of 30, maybe 10 or so digital ( couple of SLR's, 1 mirrorless, 3 compact "happy snappers" and at least 3 video/stills cameras), a bunch of 35mm cameras (highlights being the EOS3,5,30,A-1,AE-1, plus lots of others...) and a few 120's (including my beloved Bronny, and the lovely little Voigtlander Perkeo I)

Nikon D3100
Canon 350D
VivitarXV2
Practical BX20
Olympus XA1
Canon EOS1000F
Canon EOS 700
Fuji HS30EXR
just to name a few

IMO, nearly enough, IMWO, too many! As for which is my favourite, that depends very much on circumstances, subject, location and other factors. If I was only allowed to keep one system, it would probably be the Fuji one, although I'd miss the Nikons and would probably hide a compact or 2 and the Nikon 1AW. Good job such a situation is unlikely to occur!

I was about to say I have only one (my old Panasonic FZ28 now belongs to Mrs Tringa) but then I remembered I have film camera too.

The total is 3, a

35mm K mount Chinion, I can't remember which,
35mm Pentax ME, and
Pentax K5

Dave

So which bodies have you bought? I assume you're shooting pro so have backups etc?
XT1 x2 off, XT 10,XE2, XA1, XA2 x 2 off XM1 x2 off & Xpro 1
I must say out of all I'm enjoying the XT10 and XA2 the best ! Both 16mp but different sensors in each body.:)

I have a D7100..... That's it [emoji15]

Now that is one sensible photographer :) Easy decision what to take when your off out to capture images ;)

Perhaps haha! Not so easy when I really don't have the space for it, but then I normally find my Galaxy S6 camera is more than sufficient.

Probably somewhere around fifty.

I prefer to use (in order of how often I probably use them:

  1. Olympus XA2 (35mm film compact)
  2. Bronica SQ-A (medium format film camera)
  3. Yashica T2 (35mm film compact camera)
  4. Agfa Isolette II (120 film folding camera)
  5. My phone camera
  6. Sony A200 (DSLR)

XT1 x2 off, XT 10,XE2, XA1, XA2 x 2 off XM1 x2 off & Xpro 1

Wow, that looks like a serious case of Gas! Do you review them? Sorry for the questions I've just never come across someone with so many similar cameras so I'm intrigued about how you get to use them all.
