Yes
What would your ideal kit be?

Just curious after a conversation at work with a couple of hobbyists :)

D700, Nikon 14-24mm, 85mm - and another long one I don't know of!

Oh, and the Oly 90-250mm f2.8 plus Oly 300mm f2.8, plus Oly 7-14mm, plus Oly 35-100mm, plus Oly 150mm.

Hasselblad with tilt shift, portrait and wide angle.

A full studio.

Either Canon or Nikon top end digital with a full selection of lenses.

For location, profoto lighting setup.

An endless supply of gorgeous models.

The time to indulge myself shooting whatever I like.

And someone to buy the end result. :)

D700 as a body, not sure on a dream lens.

I would pay Canon to build me a 10-800mm that was the weight of a feather!!:D

Not in La La land? :thinking:Just a nice long prime for me and a hunky bloke to hold it, clothing would of course be optional :D

D700, 35mm f2, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.4 and 70-200 f2.8

nice digi hass too ;)

I'm with AliB. Hasselblad all the way! (with all the trimmings of course).

Technikardnen 5x4 camera, a nice selection of 4 or 5 lenses. A great tripod, loads of film. A riotously funny and utterly gorgeous nymphomaniac to carry it all for me and all the time in the world to enjoy it.

A guy at work bought a 5D Mk2 with grip and 17-40mm today and I have to say it's a fantastic piece of kit and nearly as comfortable as my gripped D200. The IQ is immensely awesome and it deffo makes me salivate at the thought of buying one...

... but I'm Nikoned up so would happily have a D300 (or the next one, a D400) or a D700 and keep my lenses. I'm pretty happy and I'm taking better photographs now than I ever have so I question whether I need more expensive kit :)

D3x and Sigma 200-500mm as a general walk around lens....oh yeah and a bodyguard!!

Something that would be well above the current level of my photography.....

On second thoughts, I've had that ever since I bought a D70:lol:

5D Mk II
ZOOMS: 24-70L, 70-200L F2.8 IS
PRIMES: 35L, 50L, 85L, 600L, 800L

Not much really... :)

50D and a few grands worth of L glass.

D3X
D3X - backup
D3Xir

50mm f1.4
85mm f1.4
105mm f2.8 macro
150mm f2.8 macro
200mm f2
300mm f2.8
500mm f4
600mm f4

A decent wideangle zoom that's not the 14-24mm.
24-70mm f2.8
70-200mm f2.8
200-400mm f4

A Sherpa!

D3 (x) x2
24-70
70-200 VR
300mm F2.8 VR
400mm F2.8 VR

1.4/1.7/2.0x TC's

That would do me for a while

couple of canon 1ds mk4(there must be a working prototype somewhere)
couple of 50ds
24-70,70-200IS,100-400, 17-55is50-150(only one thats a siggy)35mm prime, 50mm,85,135,200,300,400,600.mpe 65

bout 8 studio lights of varying power and modifiers to suit.
decent tripod,8 580ex11 with pocket wizards stands and softboxes etc.coule of good bags to fit it all in. decent 4x4 for carrying it all

few top end tog courses, a s***load of experience.

and maybe i will get a decent shot:)

If money was no object then im sure I would have everything

A couple of Leica M6 bodies with 35 and 50 mm primes.

A 1D mk iv and 1Ds mk iv when they come out.

Keep my 24-70, upgrade my 70-200 to the 2.8 IS, throw in a 16-35. (Yes boring standard jouno kit, I know :D)

Add a couple of fast primes, 35L and maybe 85L.

Probably get something pretty like a Shen Hao 8x10 and some nice lenses to go with it.

Really no object the a couple of D3's a D3x, D700, S5 Pro and every lens in the Nikon lineup and the 300-800 siggy Oh and a nice H3DII-50 with appropriate lenses.

My ideal set up would be a lightweight 8x10 camera with good movements (a chamonix or similar), or possibly an 8x10 Deardorff, with 4 lenses covering aprox. 28, 40, 85 and 180mm (35mm equivalent), all as wide aperture as possible

I would also then like a 20x24 inch beast with a set of lenses able to cover the format, in the same aprox focal length equivalents. I would then need to hire a sherpa to help move it.

If money is really no object the set up would include an 8x10 wet plate camera and portable darkroom and vehicle to enable me to use it away from home.

I would need about a gillion pounds for all that though, so fingers crossed for the lottery :D

Forgot the Leicas, already got the M6 but I would like another, with a couple of 35mm lenses (one fast, one slow), a 21mm, a couple of 50mm lenses (a Nocti and something in the f2.8 range), a 75mm, a 90mm and a 15mm CV

I would then need at least 3 or 4 rolls of film (maybe 5, let's go crazy) and an annual income suffiecient to allow me to do all the photography

I don't know, those Sherpas are pretty nifty at carrying big loads

If I went for the 1200mm Carl Zeiss lens then I might need a pack donkey as well though :D

Hasselblad with tilt shift, portrait and wide angle.

A full studio.

Either Canon or Nikon top end digital with a full selection of lenses.

For location, profoto lighting setup.

An endless supply of gorgeous models.

The time to indulge myself shooting whatever I like.

And someone to buy the end result - at a whopping big Lambo buying profit. :)

:agree: but I have added an important extra bit ;)

I'm happy with the Nikon kit I have.....................but would dearly love to own a Nikon 200-400 f/4 - but I haven't got £5,000

A 50D and a 5D mkII.

Lenses: All of the L lenses available for each camera
A kit bag on wheels for each.
A well toned, blond surfer type devoted caddy, who doesn't mind do me a few extra jobs (:$).

Paying customers  Yes if I had the cash I would pay people to buy my work, then pay them to hang it on their walls. Seems like that will be the only way!

Leica MP + 24mm Summilux (+finder), 35mm Summilux, 50mm Noctilux + 75mm Summilux.

All the film+developer I want, and a Nikon Coolscan 9000ED.
