I must be having a senior moment as I cannot find the rules on image posting.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
 
1024px on the longest side and a max of 500Kb if its an attachment.
Anything over that won't upload / show.

The 1024px rules apply from what ever source the image comes from.
ie flicker etc.

I don't have an online picture storage thingy, I upload from my PC.
As a side note, 1024px and 500kb seems a bit limiting.

Its been like that for many many years, and there are no plans to upgrade.

Most people are using screen resolutions around 1920x1080 so by the time you take off the sidebar, header, footer, etc. whatever you upload will be scaled down (or scroll off the page) anyway and it is better for you to scale the image rather than have the site software or browser do that because scaling the original image before upload is more likely to give the best quality output.
