Yes
That sound of the old slr shutter, could almost be compared to the sound when you tap a teaspoon on its edge through the foil lid of a new coffee jar, it just has that distinct noise to it. :) If anybody has done that at all   I sometinmes get a little paranoid that my shutter aint working right, cos no matter what speed I have it on it always makes the same sound when it fires  Or am I imagining things?

My 50D sounds very weak compared to the 1D MK IV. The 1D just sounds so robust almost like an elevator door closing at slower speeds.

I think the Nikon Dslrs sound more like a shutter noise than Canon which seems to me more like a click.

I think the lower end ones do, i was standing next to a guy who had a canon 600D or similar, we had the same lens but his camera made a sort of an electronic squeak ! i thought only compacts did that
I do love the clatter of mine though :p

My Leica goes click-whirrr in a very satisfying way. My 1D's go clatter clatter at 10fps.

Ok Ok ;) while I do like the shutter sound of my 7D machine gunning some bird in flight, there's something very reassuring about the sound of the 30D's almost Honda door type thunk, very industrial.

I am now begining to think some of you are perverted :naughty:

If you miss it that much, you can come out on a shoot with me in Bath and revel in the sound of my clockwork shutter!

That could be arranged some time I reckons if you are up for it Gandhi  One would obviously have to sample a couple of local Ales though :D

My Civic's door sounds like a bean tin bouncing off a wall

m4/3 shuter sounds weird, Pentax ME on a slow shutter sounds like a grandfather clock.

lol, haven't had a Civic we have a CRV and a Jazz, previously an Accord so I do like my Hondas :D

I missed it so much that I sold up my digital kit and re-invested in an Olympus 4Ti to go with my 2sp :)

As an aside, it's staggering how much great quality glass you can buy second-hand for the price of a mid-range AF lens.

I have 2x D90 and an F90, they all sound completely different, the first D90 sounds like an old collapsable gate on an old lift, being closed (lovely sound that is :D)

the second D90 is more muffled and flatter sounding.

the F90... goes "clunk... brrr" as it winds on the film

:)

My Nikon D300 is nice, but the first time I put a 36 exposure through the F5 on full power I nearly #hit myself.........

Who was that photographer who said a full roll going of on His F5 made his models very receptive to :naughty: sudjestions.........:suspect:

I love the shutter sound of the 1d even compared to my old film cameras :P

The 1D is great i love the noise of th1 dmk4 shutter as im tracking a bird in flight

I love the noise of the Nikon shutter i think its even better than my Canon 1d :naughty: shame about the rest of the camera :D
Joking aside it's the one thing i don't like on the 7D and 5D mk2 they just don't have that nice sound
Regards
Richard

Who is going to be first with a TP jingle made entirely from shutter sounds :suspect::suspect:

call me back when you've heard the lovely kerrr plunk of a medium format shutter....

Talking about sounds the old timer lever on the 35mm film camera's used to get me.
Wind it on ,press button then whir-whir-whir-whir slowing down all the time, till you think "it's not going to bl@@dy work",damb.....marching over to camera.....click @##*^$.......:bonk:

TBH, my DSLR shutters sound very similar to the 35mm bodies' shutters but of course, the film bodies also add the film advance noise.
