I'm delighted to have been shortlisted in travel photographer of the year 2009 in the new talent category :thumbs:

Final judging is in december, and I probably wont get any prizes so I may as well go ahead and be chuffed with reaching the final.
 
I would be chuffed too!! All the best for the finals! :thumbs: keep us updated

Its a portfolio of four shots along with a 300 word essay that has to tie in with the theme of the shots.
I only found out about the comp a week before closing date, so I simply chose four from what I already had on file.

The main prize is a week photography holiday to the tatras mountains, as well as photoshop cs4 and lightroom 2, a leather portfolio, £300 to spend at linhof, a cf card and reader.
Oh and a cuddly toy :D

Like I say I'm not expecting to win as its an international contest and I'm sure there are some stunning entries, but I'm pleased to get this far.

She's chuffed with it and I just need to get a frame and get it up on the wall.

Wow what a small world!
And thanks for the purchase too. I only started selling them in the wee shop in august and they've done really well.
A 16x12" frame will do the job :p

Just this minute looking at frames and which would do the shot the most justice.

Well the winner may not be landscape, so I guess you could so long as you can link your pics to a theme and tell a story.
It could even be people or industry for example :)
Or from somewhere in your travels. I just happened to use these as I live on Skye.

Congratulations on making the shortlist. Thats a result on it's own with the amount of enteries they will have had. Your photos do look great as dos your site. Good luck lets all keep are fingers crossed for you and hope you get a prize

That seems a rather uncharitable remark.... how would you like it if he made a similar comment if you had been shortlisted for pictures of a travel story about London?

He's lucky to live in such an inspiring landscape, but that alone doesn't make you a good photographer.

Well I'm not one of the winners, but it was exciting waiting to hear anyway.
The winners will be announced on dec 16th.
 
Nice one Marie and good luck in future comps, I was just short listed on the Worlds apart comp in the nature section but failed to get any further but it is a great feeling to get even that far these days with so many entrants.
 
And good luck in the future you have some stunning images in your gallery take it from someone who does a bit of judging
