No
anyone recommend a good place to do a repair to my macbook
prefer central scotland apple are to dear and pc word /currys are using students
I'm looking for a good one man band type of shop

I have two of these fantastic tools in my production
and both are working well. I cannot say the same of
the two others I bought for my sons…

Apple wants you to go for their 15"… so repair is very
expensive. I will
replace mine only when a new 17"
will hit the market… if only they could last so long! :wideyed:

Sincerely, I wish you the best of luck in your quest.

There is a repair centre near the apple store in Princes Street Edinburgh. They had a sign saying how much cheaper they are than the official store
Edit Just googled it and there are several repair centres in the area

At the end of June, the last 17" model (late 2011) will no longer be supported by Apple*. The earlier models are already obsolete. This means it will no longer be possible for authorised repair centres to order parts. You may have better luck with a non-authorised repair shop, but it is time to consider moving on.

Mac Upgrades in Cambridge offers support on older machines: http://macupgrades.co.uk

The 15" Retina display has a higher native resolution than the 17", so you don't really lose out on space. I went from 15" non-retina to "13" retina without any issues.

*except in California and Turkey where they have to offer support for an additional 12 months to everywhere else in the world. The machine must have been purchased in these places to qualify.
