Yes
Just got in from a car show, I thought I had imported all the images off my cf card on my pc but had only imported one, only realised this after I formatted my card:bang:

As long as you don't use the card again you could still save them. Do a search on here there is a few programs that can get them back.

I used card recovery when my card corrupted itself whilst trying to download. Worked a treat!

Image recovery software only works on images which have been deleted (ie, if you've managed to hit 'Delete all' and then thought "SH!T"!)

Formatting the memory card is basically permanent, no hope of recovery afterwards.

(Unless I'm mistaken?!)

You are ;)

When you format the card all you are doing is rewriting the table of content, so as mentioned above as long as the card hasn't been used after the format then the content should be recoverable :)

Here's a tip.
What reason did you have to format the card immediately after uploading the pics? None I guess.
Leave the formatting of cards until preparing for the next shoot. Make it part of your prep; batteries charged? Check. Cards empty? Check. Cards in camera and not PC? Check.
You get the idea

Very mistaken. It's always possible to recover things if their actual sectors haven't been re-written over. Basically hitting "delete" or formatting just deletes the index from the card. The actual information is still buried in there. I was always taught the only way to get rid of data on a hard-drive is with a hammer ;)

A quality tip, and one that I use

In addition to this the cards do not get formatted until I know the images are stored in at least two seperate places (Internal drive & external drive).

Unfortunately some cameras do actually overwrite the whole card when you do a format. Learned that the hard way with an old Fuji years ago :(

My mate managed to have his camera set to 'rewrite over old photos when memory card full' - or something similar :cuckoo: He lost alot of pics, but i managed to recover pretty much all of them by using a similar software. I dont really understand how its possible though. If the images were still there, why cant the card fit alot more photos on it in the first place ?
