32bit is limited to 3.5gb I believe, 64bit can use as much as you can install.

when I changed from 2 to 4 Gb I noticed a worthwhile improvement, changing from 4 to 8 Gb didn't make any difference at all.
if youre not maxing that 4gb out adding another 4 isnt going to improve performance (although W7 can use the free memory to speed up operations).

Don't know about Vista or Win 7 but XP PRO only shows 3.5GB even with 4GB installed

TriggerHappy said:This is an OT question but on my MacBook, with 4GB of RAM, I have a windows 7 32bit partition and when viewing system specs I have only 2.57GB of RAM apparently. All 4GB display on OSX no problem. It doesn't really matter as I never use Windows but it seems odd that this should happen, anyone know why?
