Got an ongoing debacle with them/DPD at the moment.
I ordered a Canon 22mm lens on 24th November, was due for delivery on 28th November, usual notification from DPD on 27th saying they’ll deliver tomorrow. It wasn’t delivered on the 28th, instead I got an email saying sorry it has been delayed, delivery will be on the Wednesday 29th November, and I’ll get an email with the 1 hour delivery slot. I checked the tracking and it had been at the local depot since the Tuesday morning, but after getting
MPB to chase them up turned out they had a backlog due to Black Friday so couldn’t get it out in time. It was eventually delivered on the Friday, 1st Dec one week after ordering.
MpB said they’d refund the next day delivery charge but still not had that as yet.
So after finally getting the delivery, took one look at the lens and knew was going to be returned - focus ring bent, had obviously been dropped/knocked quite hard, so much so that the ring wouldn’t turn without some effort. MPB apologetic again, weren’t sure how it got sent out like that but said they would refund on return, and booked DPD to collect on Wednesday, 6th December. So I arranged to work from home that day, had confirmation email from DPD that it would be collected Wednesday, and I’d get an hour slot on the day. Wednesday came and went, no hour slot, no collection. MPB spoke to DPD but could give no explanation as to why it wasn’t collected. I couldn’t work from home again so asked if I could leave it in a safe place for them to collect from on the Friday, which they agreed to, again I got a collection booked notification for the Friday. Went to work Thursday, got back to a card from DPD - sorry we missed you! No, you didn’t miss me, you missed the day - should have been yesterday! Still, had a collection booked from the safe place on the Friday. Got home Friday - parcel still in the safe place, but a card through the door, we tried to collect but you weren’t in! At this point I really don’t know who is to blame but it’s shocking service all round.
I’ve used MPB/DPD for a few years now but it really seems to be pot luck what level of service you get these days, seems to have gone downhill since they went global. Very rarely get the 1 hour delivery slot notification and never get an explanation as to why.
Oh, and just remembered - the delayed delivery was meant to be left in the shed behind the garage (instruction was clear) but DPD opted to wedge it between the garage and the shed instead!!!
