Was featured in last weeks Times. It is a safari site that lets you view live tv on the iPhone - just 30 seconds behind! It is best to view it with a wifi connection but it does work on 3g too.

iphone.tvcatchup.com

It allows you to view:
BBC1
BBC2
BBC Three
ITV 1&2
E4
Film4
4More
4Music

Absolutely awesome!! No app or mods needed! As it was featured in the times I hope it stays.
Hope you like!

Coooooooool, I've been using tvcatchup for a while now on my laptop, never thought to use the iphone! So is this covered as 'portable equipment', i.e. your tv license for your home covers it?

Chris

Wow! I'll definitely be having a look at that. Sounds great :)

Yup - your home tv license covers it just like a battery powered TV.

It is a grey area for those without...

It is almost too good Grendel....
They have a full website and it all looks fairly legit though - lets hope it is here to stay and the 'Beta' version is not just a lead up to a paid gateway. But for now I shall be enjoying it lots!!

It is certainly totally legal - it was originally an online PVR site, and the major channels had it shut down. However now it's returned (some months ago actually) as purely a broadcast site, and there has been no objection from any channels. Rightly so, it gives them a wider customer base and there no adverts cut out or anything so it's win win for them really!

Hmm fair point actually!
My only other worry is that this will put a large strain on the mobile network???

I've just picked up a wireless network and had a look! As you said, it's almost too damn good! No drop outs and great pic / sound quality! Why didn't I know about this sooner lol :)

It'll be interesting to see how it performs over 3G

Why didn't I know about this sooner

The exact same question I wondered!!

Maybe we should have an official iPhone update thread on TP seeing as a fair few (including most of the greeny bosses in this place) have them?

It has only been out for the iphone a few weeks, so you haven't missed much. They brought it out to celebrate their 1st anniversary (or so they say). I watch the web version all the time here, no tv in the office. They did bring out a cool desktop player, but shelved it again soon after :(

Good idea actually, feel free to start one :D

:) And started one - linky
My first go at a big thread - do you think it it ok? Does it need anything adding? My thoughts are to have it like the 2nd hand dealers thread that Moo3sh started whereby people add their suggestion then the first post gets updated with it so you can keep up to date with just the first page?

Cheers in advance for any tips/suggestions and please feel free to edit

Shame it's not available in the UAE...

There's a couple other threads about this on here including this one which also mentions another but very similar service.

John - this one actually lets you watch tv on your iPhone. Cant seem to get one above to stream to iPhone?
Edit: Ahh sorry - see you suggested TVCatchup. Tis ace!
